CAPITALISM WORKS: Javier Mileiâs Argentina Has First Quarter Budget Surplus in 16 Years â Libertarian Leader Says âOur Plan Is Workingâ
by Paul Serran Apr. 23, 2024 5:40 pm
Economic improvements in a countryâs economy are not magic, President Javier Milei told Argentines in a televised address where he had good and rare news to announce: his government is successfully taming reckless public spending, which resulted in a rare â and welcome â first quarter budget surplus.
Milei stated that this is key to improving economic prospects in the once-prosperous Latin American nation.
Reuters reported:
ââOur plan is workingâ, declared the libertarian leader in a televised address.
Milei took office in December pledging to enact an economic âshockâ plan in a bid to lower triple-digit inflation and reverse a prolonged economic slump marked by the steady deterioration of the peso currency and growing poverty.
âI know the situation is difficultâ, Milei added, âbut weâre more than halfway thereâ.â
Argentina has managed to get a financial fiscal surplus of more than 275 billion pesos ($315.4 million) in March.
The first quarter surplus represented 0.2% of the nationâs gross domestic product (GDP).
ââWeâre going to give everything to pull this country out of the hell we inheritedâ, he said, attacking previous governments for the countryâs dire economic straits.â
After implementing his promised spending-slashing, Milei was happy to report the âhistoric achievement.â
AFP reported:
ââThis is the first quarter with a financial surplus since 2008â, said Milei, referring to his left-wing rival Cristina Kirchnerâs first year in the presidency.
Milei, who took office in December, boasted of âa feat of historic significance on a global scaleâ.
âIf the state does not spend more than it collects and does not issue (money), there is no inflation. This is not magicâ, the self-described âanarcho-capitalistâ said.â
Milei was the winner in the November elections vowing to reduce the deficit to zero.
ââDonât expect a way out through public spendingâ, Milei warned on Monday.â

Argentinaâs Javier âChainsawâ Milei Slashes 15 Thousand Taxpayer-Funded State Jobs, Fulfilling Campaign Promise â Unions Stage Protests
Apr. 4, 2024 10:00 am
When he was elected President of Argentina, the libertarian economist and TV personality Javier Milei became responsible for tackling a very serious problem: how to turn around an economy destroyed by the Peronist socialists who drove almost 60% of the citizens below the poverty line.
And whatâs worse: how to do that while being maligned non-stop by the leftist MSM that helps fuel the internal opposition.
The Milei response has been to plow along and try to implement his policies as fast and as broadly as possible.
Yesterday (3), another step in this direction was taken, as Argentina announced that it had cut 15,000 taxpayer-funded state jobs.
Itâs âthe chainsawâ in action, as promised during the campaign.
Mileiâs aggressive campaign to slash spending put his government on a collision course with angry protesters and powerful trade unions.
Mileiâs government struggles to balance the budget.
Associated Press reported:
âPresidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni announced the job cuts in a news conference, portraying them as key to Mileiâs promised shake-up of Argentinaâs bloated public sector.
âItâs part of the work we are doing to reduce state expenses,â he told reporters, describing the dismissed workers as a drag on taxpayers. âThey perhaps did not have a very defined job,â he said.â
Employees stormed some state companies in Buenos Aires and nearby cities, while the Association of State Workers, or ATE, brought a crowd of protesters to ministries.
âWorkers at ministries that Mileli has vowed to close, such as the National Institute Against Discrimination, along with a range of state agencies â including the ministries for the economy, energy and social security â received the latest layoff notices.â
Critics say the impact of the laid off workers is combined with the reduction of social programs, to create a critical situation.
âMilei campaigned for president while brandishing a chainsaw â promising to fix Argentinaâs long-troubled economy by chopping down the size of the state. Determined to balance the countryâs budget, he has slashed energy and transportation subsidies, halted public works, cut payments to provincial governments and devalued the peso by over 50% to close the gap between the official exchange rate and the black market rate.â
The inflation has spiked, making it even harder for Argentines to manage.
The confrontation will make it harder to achieve a zero budget deficit by the yearâs end.
ââThey are walking a very thin lineâ, said Martin Planes from Cefeidas, a Buenos Aires-based political advisory group. âThey need to go deeper with their measures to cut spending, but they need to prevent social unrestâ.â

ICYMI: âThis Is Embarrassingâ: Turley Says He Is In âUtter Disbeliefâ Over Bragg Trial Opening Statements

âThis Is Embarrassingâ: Turley Says He Is In âUtter Disbeliefâ Over Bragg Trial Opening Statements
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said he is in âutter disbeliefâ over the opening statements of the trial brought forth by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Former President Donald Trump arrived at the courthouse Monday to hear opening statements from the prosecution and defense teams over the 34-count indictment accusing him of falsifying business records to cover up an alleged hush money payment to former porn actress Stormy Daniels. It is alleged that Trumpâs former lawyer Michael Cohen paid $130,000 to Daniels to keep an alleged extramarital affair between her and Trump undisclosed ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
âWhat is clear is in this case, Trump is right,â Turley said. âI mean, this is an embarrassment. I mean, the fact that we are actually talking about this case being presented in a New York courtroom leaves me in utter disbelief. I mean, the arguments today did in fact capture all the problems here. You know, you had this misdemeanor under state law that had run out. This is going back to the 2016 election. And they zapped it back into life by alleging that there was a campaign finance under the federal laws that doesnât exist. The Department of Justice doesnât view it this way.â
Turley compared the allegations against Trump to former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, whose campaign funded the Steele Dossier to investigate the now-discredited claims that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. (RELATED: Trump Defense Attorney Says Braggâs Charges Are Really Just 34 âPieces Of Paperâ)
âBut also keep in mind, this is what Hillary Clintonâs people did. Remember, when they funded the Steele Dossier, which they denied to reporters. They put it as a legal expense, and then they fought the eventual fine that they received from the federal government saying âwell it was a legal expense.â But now youâve got some of the same Democrats supporting this same bizarre theory,â Turley continued.
Fox Newsâ John Roberts pointed out that the prosecution is âbeing led in partâ by Michael Colangelo, who served as the U.S. Associate Attorney General under President Joe Bidenâs administration, then left his position to become a state prosecutor for Braggâs office. Turley said Colangeloâs role supports Trumpâs accusations that the case is âcoordinated.â
âThe fact is that most people in most courts would be, like, âwoah, lets nots start with the former Biden Justice [Department] attorney to make this argument. But in New York, it doesnât matter, because not much else matters except the name of the defendant on the caption, Donald Trump,â he added.
Colangelo accused Trump during his opening statement of formulating a âlong-running conspiracyâ to interfere in the 2016 election, according to The Associated Press.
âThe defendant, Donald Trump, orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election. Then he covered up that criminal conspiracy by lying in his New York business records over and over and over again,â Colangelo reportedly said.
Todd Blanche, a defense attorney representing Trump, affirmed the formerâs presidentâs innocence, the outlet reported.
âPresident Trump is innocent. President Trump did not commit any crimes. The Manhattan district attorneyâs office should never have brought this case,â Todd Blanche reportedly said.
Trumpâs legal team is prepared to paint Daniels and Cohen as liars who are motivated by finances and grudges, court documents show, CNN reported. The prosecution reportedly aims to look into whether the former president violated federal and state election laws or state tax laws in the manner how he reimbursed Cohen.
Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts during an April 4, 2023, court appearance.
that asshole has posted the same fuckin thing, for days

RFK Jr. Reveals What the NIH Isnât Telling You About Mass Shootings
Independent presidential hopeful Robert Kennedy Jr. stirred up an eye-opening conversation on the Glenn Beck Podcast that will surely never make its rounds in the mainstream media.
The topic: Whatâs really behind the catastrophic increase in mass shootings in the United States?
According to Kennedy, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is ânot allowed to look for the answer to that questionâ â nor is the NIH allowed to investigate the cause of peanut allergies, the autism epidemic, et cetera.
Now, why would the NIH be ânot allowedâ to seek answers to these very important questions?
According to Kennedy, itâs âbecause theyâre frightened that thereâs a big shot, a big food processor, Big Ag, Big Pharma that is going to be angry at them with the answer. So, they simply wonât do it.â
Kennedy told Beck that Switzerland, a country with a considerable rate of gun ownership, had its last mass shooting 21 years ago. This is a stark contrast to the alarming statistic that mass shootings occur in the United States âevery 21 hours.â
Kennedy suggested that âsomething happenedâ around the time of the infamous Columbine High School mass shooting in 1999.
That something, he suspects, is the use of SSRI antidepressants.
When Columbine happened, the families of the victims sued the maker of Luvox, the SSRI antidepressant that Eric Harris, one of the shooters, was prescribed at the time of the shooting.
Kennedy said, âWhen Columbine happened, [families of the victims] sued [Luvox]. And there are SSRIs. Iâve talked about this. Iâm not saying this is the answer. [Iâm] saying itâs something that we should look atâthat SSRIs have black box labels and benzos that say, âknown to cause suicidal and homicidal behavior.â It says that.â
Whatâs Not Causing Mass Shootings
While Kennedy did not definitively say that SSRIs are causing mass shootings, he decisively stated what is not.
âThereâs a lot of factors. But we should know what it is because one thing we do know: It has nothing to do with the number of guns because there hasnât been any legislation out there that has diminished or increased the number of guns during that period. Itâs been roughly constant. If you have a scientific mind, which I do, Iâm looking for the variables that change during that period, and thatâs what CDC ought to be doing.â
Beck added that itâs âreasonable to put that [SSRIs] on the tableâ in discussions about the underlying causes of mass shootings.
âMakes sense to everybody in the world,â Kennedy replied. âLetâs figure out why thatâs happening and then deal with it. Letâs make sure we know what the culprit is.â
