Can't find the article now, but read years ago that in the mid 19th century there was very little to no starvation in the world. Food aid supplied through the UN and other programs put local farmers out of business (it only takes one season of no income from crop sales). Once local farmers were put out of business, the populations were dependent on and subject to the conditions of the aid. Local leaders were in the same boat. If they did not comply with new laws, rules and regulations set by the supplier, the people would starve, riot and demand a new leader. This was the goal to begin with. Puppets were installed and here we are today.
