Brad Irwin
Brad Irwin is the former President & CEO of Welch’s, a $600 million global packaged goods company best known for its line of juices and jellies – particularly Concord grape-based products. Welch’s is an independent, privately held grower- owned cooperative with a 150-year history. Brad retired from Welch’s at the end of 2018 after almost 10 years in the role.
Prior to Welch’s, Brad was President, Cadbury North America, a $1.5 billion division of a leading global confectionery company with $10 billion in annual sales worldwide. He ran this division, formerly known as Adams, for nearly six years after it was acquired by Cadbury in 2003. Brad joined Cadbury in 2000 as President of Mott’s Inc., a $700 million food and beverage company in North America, and was transferred to the confectionery role in 2003.
For the previous 20 years, Brad had roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of marketing and general management with Procter & Gamble (P&G). From 1980 to 1989, he held various brand management positions with P&G. In 1989, Brad moved to the Netherlands where he was Marketing Director for Laundry and Cleaning with P&G. He returned to the U.S. in 1991 to become P&G’s Marketing Director for Detergents, and in 1993, Brad was appointed General Manager for Fabric Conditioners. He moved to Korea in 1996, where he led the business unit as Vice President/General Manager for P&G, and moved back to the U.S. when he joined Cadbury in 2000.
Since 2006, Brad has been a member of the Board of Directors of Church & Dwight, a $4 billion S&P 500 consumer packaged goods company in the household and personal products categories. He has served on the Audit, Governance and Compensation Committees. Brad became Lead Director in 2019.
Brad earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science at Amherst College.
Brad joined the Save the Children Board of Trustees in 2003 and served on the U.S. Programs and Marketing Committees for six years. He re-joined the Board in 2011 and added the Head Start and Audit Committees to his responsibilities. In 2018, Brad joined the Save the Children International Board, where he serves on the Finance and People & Organization Committees.
In 2019, he became Chairman of Save the Children US. He also currently serves as Chair of the Executive Committee.
