Both back on network now and about 50 miles apart. Chinese drone now about 75 miles off the NW Philippines coast.

Whatever happened in NYC that day. It happened with China's consent, leadership, co-operation, compulsion, et. al. What happened in DC that day was 100% China though.

Don't think it's transponder trouble. Think it's limited network coverage and he is just barely getting picked up. Turn off military and look at all traffic in the area. You will see that only one receiver is picking up anything in the area. And the civilian stuff being picked up that far offshore is at a higher altitude. So this is likely a lack of coverage for the network and not the aircraft itself.
