@Planefag squad leader

So your gut/intuition/experience said this number of medevacs was quite abnormal, and you were able to trace flight endpoints to non-hospital locations (both endpoints) with some confidence… I had that one exhausting evening of chasing medevacs but have not yet developed a feel for what is "normal"…

I suppose we need to institute a regular medevac watch over CONUS after dark every day until the dust settles and a pattern emerges? (For me that was a very hard shift…I salute your persistence.) Practice makes perfect and no pain no gain.

I have started making a list (one reason why the chopper shift was so arduous – once we have a good list it will go quicker). From this list you can discern certain company names that do medevacs, and certain character combinations that chopper companies choose when registering their medevacs.

LF = life flight

MH = medical helicopter

RX = obvious

and so forth

Peruse the list and you'll see what I mean.

The following tail nos. are confirmed medevacs:

A119

CLINIC3

N130EE

N130MU

N139AM

N145CH

N184WK

N230AM

N252SA

N281HC

N301PH

N314PH

N320PH

N329PH

N381PH

N384PH

N435LL

N438CM

N442ME

N448ME

N4558MT

N527ME

N556LF

N686LF

N703ME

N811ME

N911BF

N911ER

N911PN

N932ME

N952AL

N954AL

REACH Air Medical 8

N321RX

N978LF

N139MH

N253AM

This has got to be a very small subset of the total number tho. The ones owned by a hospital trustee or leasing company are more difficult to ID – you have locate a photo of the chopper and then it becomes obvious as medevacs are invariably well marked as such.

I'll do what I can. Can prob cover 2-3 hours from 0001Z-. Cannot commit to heavy loss of sleep tho, that doesn't work for me. Muh Timezone! Glad to see more cadets here.

Did you want a PF badge made with no step on snek? Can badge…
