Operation Apache Snow was a joint U.S. and South Vietnamese military operation during the Vietnam War designed to keep pressure on the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) units in the A Shau Valley and prevent them from mounting any attacks on the neighboring coastal provinces.

During the 14 hour operation, Marines engaged in a four hour firefight, and at least one friendly was wounded.

 

The name Apache Snow is in reference to a 1969 Army and Marine operation in the A Shau Valley of Vietnam. The intent was to disrupt supply lines to enemy forces and ended in the taking of Hill 937, which became known as โ€œHamburger Hill.โ€
