PF worked at this site/facility and friend was higher up at Johnson Controls (so had “access” to stuff-even went on top of Hangar One and that was cray-rusty everything and the top was filled empty liquor bottles and had used condoms strewn about) in mid 90s and they were mostly engaged w/ producing parts/components for ISS however they also denied doing any animal testing but the trash bins just east of big wind tunnel intakes had used bags of monkey chow in them so ummm yeah they lied. Also almost lost my hearing while a U2 took off as I was allowed to stand on flight linedeck with other Navy personnel and I declined ear protection-big mistake that, Navy boys had a good laugh at that. They also have a 7 story full motion flight simulator that I was fortunate enough to be allowed to fly w/ Mercury 7 and Gemini astronaut W. Schirra-that was cool as he got out of the seat (because they were going to turn off the full motion for me and he knew it) and said “Captain….the chair is yours” so I could experience the full motion. Then I let one of the peeps that I managed try it but motion shut off :( but at least they got to land the Space Shuttle and the control room even “blew” a tire on touchdown but he managed to control it. They were not amused in that control room after that but what are they going to do to a “space hero” right? So we were laughing asses off after we got out of bldg. Our group had a great time at dinner talking about that with many ‘spirits’ imbibed. Can say that WS was not a big drinker (can’t recall if he did mebby mebby not) but most of the older ones were quite heavy ones and phew lads…they could go and go. I’ll not say names as that’s not cool but you’ve heard of all of them, I can assure you
