Being that it's retroactive, anyone who votes for it can have their old social media posts dug up. Maybe they'll cry "unconstitutional", like that NY politician who voted for the lifting of the statute of limitations to get Trump with the E Jean Carroll accusations, only to have his own crime come to light.
In general, it's good to criticize the behavior/action, not the group. Hate the sin, not the sinner. If you speak out against behavior X, and they accuse you of being against group Y, you can point out that they associated group Y with behavior X, and you were simple criticizing behavior X for being unambiguously bad.
