A former CIA agent pleaded guilty to spying for China for over a decade.

Ex-CIA officer and contract linguist for the FBI Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 72, pleaded guilty in a Honolulu federal court on Friday for providing intelligence officers in China with classified information.

A court filing from the DOJ revealed it had amassed “a war chest of damning evidence” against Ma exchanging classified information with China’s Ministry of State Security stretching back to 2001.

Among the evidence was a video of Ma exchanging classified information for thousands of dollars.

A section of the $320 million floating pier built and erected off Gaza's coast has broken off and floated onto an Israeli beach. The Saturday mishap is the latest setback for the US humanitarian aid project, after three US troops were reported injured aboard the pier two days prior, including one critically.

The Times of Isreal's military correspondent Emanuel Fabian has reported that "An American vessel used to unload humanitarian aid from ships into the Gaza Strip via a floating pier disconnected from a small boat tugging it this morning due to stormy seas, leading it to get stuck on the coast of Ashdod, eyewitnesses say."

The recovery operation has not gone well either, as "Another ship was then sent to try and extract the stuck vessel, but also got beached," Fabian writes.

And yet a second US Army vessel also got stuck in shallow waters while trying to rescue the pier section. Overnight US ships had been moving two pieces of the floating pier to the Port of Ashdod in southern Israel when the now beached section detached and drifted away. Universities are continuing to push race- and gender-based hiring practices for jobs associated with a federal government program despite “diversity, equity and inclusion” targets already being met.

The federal government also suggested discriminatory race- and gender-based hiring practices could continue regardless of targets.

The program in question is the Canada Research Chairs (CRC), a federal initiative to recruit and retain scholars at academic institutions.

It has since transformed into a program that promotes DEI ideology through the allure of federal funding.

Institutions have been setting diversity targets for the program since January 2009. The latest diversity targets unveiled in 2021 seek to have the makeup of chair holders be “based on Canada’s population.”

The aim is to have chairs be 50.9% women, 22% visible minorities, 7.5% persons with disabilities, and 4.9% Indigenous by December 2029.

RCMP warns they can’t meet gov’s goal for all-electric fleet by 2030

Despite the federal government’s plan to replace the entire RCMP fleet with zero-emission vehicles by 2035, the national police force warns that it won’t be possible to “Green the fleet” with the currently available technology.

According to the Liberal’s “Greening Government Strategy,” they plan to replace half of the RCMP’s national safety and security light-duty fleet with ZEVs by 2030 and 100% of the vehicles by 2035.

Two ZEV vehicles have been tested by the RCMP since January this year: one in British Columbia’s West Shore detachment and one in Ontario’s Rideau Hall Response Unit.

Over 200 Canadian cars a week have been found scattered across the world, reported as stolen and usually located at national ports of entry, according to Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization.

The RCMP integrated the Canadian Police Information Centre’s stolen vehicle data with Interpol’s stolen motor vehicle database in February.

Since then, more than 1,500 Canadian vehicles have been detected worldwide.

Interpol confirmed in a news release that Canada ranks among the top 10 countries in hits received through the stolen motor vehicle database this year, out of the 137 countries connected worldwide.

Interpol’s stolen motor vehicle database connects 137 countries and holds data on 12 million vehicles worldwide. The database allows police from member countries to check whether a suspicious vehicle has been reported as stolen. In 2023, approximately 226,000 cars were identified as stolen worldwide through Interpol’s database.

Interpol manages a range of databases containing information related to criminals and crimes, with over 125 million police records and 5.9 billion database searches.

The RCMP’s Canadian Police Information Centre’s database contains information on around 150,000 stolen vehicles in Canada. Continue…

Murderer escapes from Quebec minimum-security prison and remains at large

Authorities are on high alert after they discovered that Yacine Zouaoui, 32, escaped from the Federal Training Centre in Laval on Thursday night. The Federal Training Centre has both minimum and medium security sections.

Zouaoui is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Second Degree Murder. He was sentenced after turning himself in to police for killing a man by stabbing him in the back with a sword in 2011.

Despite the federal government handing out billions in subsidies to aid the transition of making electric vehicles the dominant mode of transportation, sales continue to drop.

The Trudeau government has a mandate to require all new passenger vehicles and light trucks sold in Canada to be zero-emission by 2035, however, consumer interest has been steadily in decline this year.

While EVs sold relatively well last year, so far in 2024, they’re now selling at half the rate of 2023, lagging behind gas-powered vehicles

According to Fraser Institute’s director of natural resource studies Elmira Aliakbari and policy analyst Julio Mejia, this should be cause for concern.

“The sluggish demand for EVs and the response from automakers should raise red flags for both the Trudeau government and Biden administration, given the massive subsidies (a.k.a. corporate welfare) injected into the EV and battery production industry,” wrote Aliakbari and Mejia in a recent op-ed.

“The EV transition faces major obstacles, and the recent scaling back or delays in EV production by automakers should serve as a warning to governments about the feasibility of their forced transition policies, which clearly put Canadian taxpayers at risk.” Continue…

The International Organization for Migration, a UN body, fears that Friday’s massive landslide in Papua New Guinea, which buried an entire village, has claimed more than 670 lives. Local authorities initially estimated that the natural disaster had resulted in 100 fatalities or more.

Tragedy struck when a side of Mount Mungalo, located in a remote northern area of the South Pacific island nation, sheared off and completely covered Yambali village with a mix of rocks, mud and uprooted trees. According to a statement on Saturday by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs, more than six municipalities have been affected to some extent.

One of the hallmarks of the European Union is that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. In fact, it often means the exact opposite.

Take, for instance, the idea that Ursula Von der Leyen, the European Commission president, is running for re-election when in reality she’s just publicly squabbling with a few other establishment hacks to be handpicked and confirmed by the establishment itself, not by popular vote. But that hasn’t stopped her from cosplaying as an actual democratic candidate. It’s not like she didn’t have the opportunity to actually be one rather than just play one, but when her German colleagues asked her to run for an elected EU seat in Germany to establish some democratic credibility, she reportedly declined the inconvenience.

But that hasn’t stopped her from posting “campaign” ads on social media, as though she’s actually trying to appeal to voters. In one such video, she promises that if she’s re-coronated, er, “re-elected,” she’ll defend Europe with a “Democracy Shield.” The whole idea, she says, is to “detect disinformation and malign interference… remove content, including [artificial intelligence] deepfakes, [and] to make our societies more resilient.” Nothing about defending Europe’s democracy from unelected bureaucrats wielding excessive power though, I guess? Budapest is obstructing the bloc’s efforts to militarily support Kiev, the paper’s sources claim

Hungary has blocked legislation that would allow the EU hand over profits earned on frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, the Financial Times reported on Saturday, citing sources.

The West froze around $300 billion in Russian sovereign assets when the Ukraine conflict escalated, trapping around $280 billion in the EU. While the bloc stopped short of confiscating the assets outright due to legal concerns, earlier this week it approved the use of interest generated from the assets to provide military aid to Kiev. The annual revenue is estimated to be around $3 billion.

However, according to five FT sources familiar with internal discussions among EU ambassadors, Hungary’s envoy has opposed expedited payments to Ukraine using Russian interest income. “For the time being they are blocking everything connected to the military support to Ukraine,” one source said, adding the situation would not change until next month’s elections for the European Parliament, at the earliest. Experts claimed that climate change is expected to bring more "climate-related emergencies" to hospitals in coming years.

On Saturday, experts in Canada claimed the need to update the country's hospitals to be more disaster-proof because climate change is expected to bring more "climate-related emergencies" in coming years.

In an interview with the Canadian Press, director of adaptation research at the Canadian Climate Institute, Ryan Ness, noted that the types of disasters that bring people to the emergency room, such as wildfires, floods, and others, are also a threat to the hospitals themselves.

He said "In the most vulnerable locations, it is very urgent," to disaster-proof the life-saving infrastructure. "I think every health authority, every health ministry in every part of the country should be thinking about this," Ness added.

According to the outlet, nearly half of Canada's healthcare facilities were built over 50 years ago, which makes them "especially vulnerable to extreme climate events." According to Ness, one study showed that 10 percent of the hospitals in the country were within a 100-year flood zone, and five percent were in a 20-year flood plain which means that they have a five percent chance of flooding each year.
