Is today the day that SA officially takes steps towards this goal?

Saudi arabia wants a palestinian state

Saudi Arabia has expressed its support for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders. The current King of Saudi Arabia, Salman, has publicly stated his support for a Palestinian state. Additionally, a prominent Saudi prince, Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, has also expressed his support for an independent state based on pre-1967 borders. Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has also raised the idea of funding with Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, indicating a willingness to resume financial support to the Palestinian Authority.

Saudi Arabia has also emphasized the importance of a comprehensive, regional settlement with Israel that results in a Palestinian state. However, the Netanyahu government has rejected this proposal. Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of a Palestinian state is seen as a balancing act between its Palestinian and regional interests, with the primary constants being the threats from Iran and its proxies, and the persistent interest in Palestinian statehood.

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has taken steps to normalize its relations with Israel, but only if Israel recognizes the Palestinian state. The country has also called for an immediate and full cease-fire in Gaza and the removal of all obstacles to the entry of aid into the war-torn enclave. Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister has stated that a Palestinian state is key to ties with Israel, and the country has offered to resume financial support to the Palestinian Authority.

It’s worth noting that not all voices in Saudi Arabia share the same views on the issue. Some have criticized the country’s stance on Palestine, accusing it of not being a true friend to the Palestinian people. However, the Saudi government’s official stance is that it supports an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.
