"Trump Media Group CEO Devin Nunes requested on Thursday that Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody investigate possible "unlawful manipulation of DJT stock."
The request comes after Nunes sought an investigation from House finance and oversight leaders on the same matter last month. Nunes raised the concerns after Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) began trading on the Nasdaq stock market in late March under the ticker "DJT." The company's flagship product is social networking site Truth Social.
Nunes noted in both letters that DJT has appeared Nasdaq’s "Reg SHO threshold list," continuously since April 2, which he said is "indicative of unlawful trading activity."

The Pentagon has ordered the withdrawal all 1,000 United States troops from Niger this week, signaling the end of a 10-year presence in the West African country.
The withdrawal is expected to take place over several months, a U.S. official told Politico on Friday ahead of any formal announcement, but the troops will remain in the area and the timeline has not been finalized. The withdrawal does not include embassy security personnel, but other details on the military exit are still being worked out.
The order comes a year after Niger experienced a military coup, which placed the military junta in charge of the country. The junta announced last month that it was ending its military cooperation deal with the United States.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Friday upheld the decision finding Steve Bannon, an ex-adviser to former President Donald Trump, guilty for not complying with a subpoena from the House January 6 select committee.
Bannon was sentenced to four months in federal prison for not complying with the subpoena. Bannon has not served any jail time while his latest appeal played out.
The three-judge appeals panel provided Bannon with time to appeal its ruling to the full DC-based appeals court before his conviction is formally upheld.

The Biden administration stated on Friday that Israel likely violated international humanitarian law in its war with Hamas, possibly while using weapons that were supplied by the United States.
The administration said it found "reasonable" evidence to support the belief that the country violated international law, but could not determine if the weapons used were supplied by the U.S. in some airstrikes, due to conditions on the ground.
The statement was noted in a report to Congress Friday afternoon, according to the Associated Press.

"On April 30, 2024 The Honorable Reed O’Connor, Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth Division, in a 21-page opinion, denied in part and granted in part a motion to dismiss brought by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Plaintiff, Mr. John Sabal, a disabled Navy veteran who organizes patriotic festivals and has never been arrested, alleges that the ADL defamed him when it published his name in the ADL Center on Extremism’s “Glossary of Extremism and Hate,” which includes notorious terrorists and mass shooters, and claims as its mission to “monitor, expose and disrupt extremist threats.”
The Court noted:
[T]he type of extremism featured in the Glossary is of a highly criminal and depraved nature. Combined with the mission statement, the Glossary’s context appears [to] convey factual assertions about persons with Glossary entries rather than mere opinion.

"GOP members of both the U.S. House and Senate introduced a bill to add safeguards to ensure that non U.S. citizens who are already prohibited from voting in federal elections, do not do so. The bill seeks to amend the National Voter Registration Act to require documentary proof of United States citizenship to register to vote.
The Center Square reports that It would require states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote. Applicants would have to provide proof of citizenship when they register to vote in person, when applying for a motor vehicle license, and when applying to vote by mail. The bill lists accepted citizenship documentation and requirements for voter registration agencies.
U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, led a coalition of 49 Republicans to introduce the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act in the U.S. House. U.S. Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, with several cosponsors, introduced the same bill in the Senate.
Citing the border crisis and the greatest number of foreign nationals illegally entering the country in U.S. history, the measure’s supporters expressed alarm that instead of being deported, many are being registered to vote.
“There is currently an unprecedented and a clear and present danger to the integrity of our election system,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said. “And that is the threat of non-citizens and illegal aliens voting in our elections. In the last five and a half months or so, I’ve been to over 101 cities doing events all around the country in more than half the states. The first or second question that I’m asked in every public forum is about election security. Americans are deeply concerned about this. And it doesn’t matter where you live or whether you’re in a blue state or a red state, everyone’s concerned.”
