Senator Barkley proceeded to announce that the Department of Justice had completely exonerated Senator Walsh of the Post's charges that he frequented a Brooklyn "house of degradation" which was also a hangout for Nazi spies, a place where sailors were lured by drink to tell military secrets. Senator Barkley did not then or later give out the FBI 25-page report. He said it was too "disgusting and unprintable." He contented himself with declaring flatly that the whole "weird and fantastic story" was a case of mistaken identity: the man called Senator Walsh by the Post was really a different visitor altogether, portly like the Senator, about his age, but otherwise resembling him no more "than I look like Haile Selassie."

Level 0—Confusion: The person is unaware of any mirror reflection or the mirroring itself; they perceive a mirror image as an extension of their environment.
Level 1—Differentiation: The individual realizes the mirror is able to reflect things. They see that what is in the mirror is of a different nature from what is surrounding them. Level 2—Situation: The individual can link the movements on the mirror to what is perceived within their own body.
Level 3—Identification: An individual can now see that what's in the mirror is not another person but actually them.
Level 4—Permanence: The individual is able to identify the self in previous pictures looking different or younger. A "permanent self" is now experienced.
Level 5—Self-consciousness or "meta" self-awareness: At this level not only is the self seen from a first person view but it is realized that it is also seen from a third person's view. A person who develops self consciousness begins to understand they can be in the mind of others: for instance, how they are seen from a public standpoint.

Were Israelis Detained on Sept. 11 Spies?
Maria says she saw three young men kneeling on the roof of a white van in the parking lot of her apartment building. "They seemed to be taking a movie," Maria said.
The men were taking video or photos of themselves with the World Trade Center burning in the background, she said. What struck Maria were the expressions on the men's faces. "They were like happy, you know … They didn't look shocked to me. I thought it was very strange," she said.
She found the behavior so suspicious that she wrote down the license plate number of the van and called the police. Before long, the FBI was also on the scene, and a statewide bulletin was issued on the van.
The plate number was traced to a van owned by a company called Urban Moving. Around 4 p.m. on Sept. 11, the van was spotted on a service road off Route 3, near New Jersey's Giants Stadium. A police officer pulled the van over, finding five men, between 22 and 27 years old, in the vehicle. The men were taken out of the van at gunpoint and handcuffed by police.
The arresting officers said they saw a lot that aroused their suspicion about the men. One of the passengers had $4,700 in cash hidden in his sock. Another was carrying two foreign passports. A box cutter was found in the van. But perhaps the biggest surprise for the officers came when the five men identified themselves as Israeli citizens.
‘We Are Not Your Problem’
According to the police report, one of the passengers told the officers they had been on the West Side Highway in Manhattan "during the incident" — referring to the World Trade Center attack. The driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers, "We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem." The other passengers were his brother Paul Kurzberg, Yaron Shmuel, Oded Ellner and Omer Marmari.

We think there are about 50 in detention now, in San Diego, Houston, Kansas City, St. Louis and Cleveland, and there are some who have been released, said Ido Aharoni, a spokesman for the Israeli consulate in New York. It's not easy to get an exact count. They may be embarrassed that they were working illegally, and we only find out when their mothers call, because they haven't been in touch, and we check and find them in jail.
In Ohio, on Oct. 31, the immigration service detained nine men and two women, all of whom had valid passports and tourist visas. Nine of the 11 were released on bond on Friday, but two remain in the Medina County jail, outside of Cleveland. The next hearing for the Israelis all in their early 20's and recently finished with their Israeli army service is scheduled for Nov. 27, in Cleveland.

The investigation uncovered a disconcerting link between the “Dancing Israelis” and the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency. A former high-ranking American intelligence official revealed that the FBI had concluded the five Israelis were conducting a Mossad surveillance mission, with their employer, Urban Moving Systems, serving as a convenient cover. In fact, at least two of the arrested individuals were confirmed to have had direct links to the Mossad, as their names appeared in a CIA-FBI database of foreign intelligence operatives.
Oded Ellner, one of the detained Israelis, confirmed on Israeli television that their purpose in New York was to “document the event,” referring to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The release of the FOIA photos is significant, even though they are heavily redacted, obscuring the Israelis’ facial expressions. Nonetheless, previously declassified FBI reports stated that the Israelis appeared “visibly happy” in nearly every photo, even with the burning towers in the background.
Remarkably, of the original 76 pictures developed by authorities from the Israelis’ camera, only 14 were released. One shows an Israeli holding up a lit lighter, with the towers in the background. Curiously, this photo bears the date of September 10, 2001, a day before the attacks. The photos and footage were completely wiped from the internet and from public access; And on January 27th 2014, the US Government had them destroyed.
One question that persists is why the FBI suddenly ‘officially’ concluded that the arrested Israelis had no prior knowledge of the attacks, a conclusion which lies in direct conflict with the facts. Reports indicate that the Bush administration may have intervened in the investigation, ultimately leading to the release and deportation of the five Israelis. Attorney General John Ashcroft personally signed off on their release.
When asked about the Israelis’ involvement in the attacks, Bush Admin officials and investigators refused to describe them saying “Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified”
The presence of explosive residue in the Israelis’ van, the lack of equipment consistent with a moving company, and the strange possessions found — including a “white sock-like sack filled with $4,700 in cash,” maps of the city with specific locations highlighted, and box cutters — only add to the enigma.
Urban Moving Systems, the employer of the five Israelis, also raised suspicion for being a “fraudulent operation.” The FBI found little evidence of a legitimate business operation, and noted an unusually large number of computers relative to the number of employees. The owner, Dominik Otto Suter, an Israeli citizen, fled to Israel soon after being questioned by the FBI.
