Taos Pueblo Man Charged with Multiple Counts of Sexual Abuse of Children

 

ALBUQUERQUE – A Taos Pueblo man has been charged by indictment with multiple counts of sexual abuse against three minors.

 

Ben John Martinez, 75, an enrolled member of the Taos Pueblo, appeared before a federal judge today to be informed of the eleven count federal indictment he faces.

 

According to the indictment, between September 2001 and October 2010, Martinez engaged in sexual acts with three children whose ages ranged from five to thirteen years old at the time of the abuse. If convicted of the current charges, Martinez faces not less than 30 years in prison.

 

U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, made the announcement today.

 

The Santa Fe Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Taos Pueblo Department of Public Safety. Assistant United States Attorney Alexander Flores is prosecuting the case. The FBI continues to investigate Martinez’s involvement in crimes against other victims. Elon Musk Pledges To Spend Around $9 Billion To Acquire 300,000 Units Of NVIDIA’s B200 Chips For xAI By “Next Summer”

 

Just after securing an $18 billion valuation in a new funding round, xAI is gearing up to spend at least 50 percent of its net worth on NVIDIA's GPUs, as per Elon Musk's latest comments.

 

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, xAI recently raised $6 billion in a new funding round that valued Elon Musk's AI-focused enterprise at $18 billion. While the chatbot Grok is xAI's only product at the moment, the startup intends to significantly expand its AI-related product portfolio by ramping up its investments in GPU clusters.

 

Back in April, the X account "The Technology Brother" posted that Mark Zuckerberg's Meta had amassed one of the largest stashes of the H100 GPUs in the world, amounting to around 350,000 units. Musk, however, took an exception with the rankings of Tesla and xAI in that tabulation, pointing out that "Tesla would be second highest and X/xAI would be third if measured correctly."

 

Today, we've received some solid projections from Elon Musk vis-a-vis xAI's oncoming chip buying frenzy. To wit, in response to an online poll, Elon Musk has announced that xAI's "next big step would probably be ~300k B200s with CX8 networking next summer."

 

Back in March, NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang revealed that the company's latest B200 GPUs would likely be priced at between $30,000 and $40,000. This means that xAI is about to spend a whopping $9 billion on acquiring around 300,000 units of the B200 GPU, assuming the company is able to negotiate a price point that is at the lowest end of Huang's stated range.

 

Interestingly, should xAI follow through on Elon Musk's ambitious plans, it would be investing at least half of its current valuation in buying NVIDIA's GPUs over the next few months!

 

Do note that NVIDIA's H100 chips are now about to cede the proverbial ground to the latest GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip. The chip combines one Arms-based Grace CPU with two Blackwell B100 GPUs and can deploy an AI model with 27 trillion parameters. Moreover, the superchip is expected to be 30 times faster at tasks like serving up answers from chatbots.

Maldives will ban Israelis from entering the country over the war in Gaza

 

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — The Maldives government will ban Israelis from the Indian Ocean archipelago, known for luxury resorts, as public anger in the predominantly Muslim nation rises over the war in Gaza.

 

The president’s office said Sunday that the Cabinet decided to change laws to prevent Israeli passport holders from entering the country and to establish a subcommittee to oversee the process.

 

Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein said in response that the Foreign Ministry recommends Israelis avoid any travel to the Maldives, including those with foreign passports, and that those currently there consider leaving.

 

Nearly 11,000 Israelis visited the Maldives last year, which was 0.6% of the total tourist arrivals.

Big Pharma Paid $690 Million To Fauci’s Agency Through Secret Third Party Royalties During Pandemic Years

 

Payments to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s agency and colleagues from private pharmaceutical firms under obscure licensing and royalty schemes skyrocketed during the pandemic.

 

The American people started to feel that Big Pharma was very close to Big Government. Thanks to our two federal lawsuits demanding transparency, we know more details and they do not inspire confidence.

 

In 2022 and 2023, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies paid the National Institutes of Health a sum of $710,381,160 in third party royalties. These were payments to NIH, its leadership and scientists by healthcare entities licensing inventions created in federal, taxpayer-paid labs. The two-year average of such payments over the prior decade was less than $5 million, for an increase of more than 175 times.

 

Fauci’s institute, The National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) received $690,218,610 of the $710 million, or 97%. In the same period, the other 26 institutes under the NIH received some $26 million in total.

 

It was an extreme cash haul at Fauci’s institute:

 

Between 2009-2021, OpenTheBooks.com, the organization I founded and lead, previously reported that $325 million was paid to all NIH institutes. Fauci’s NIAID received $23.9 million of that – or an average of $2 million per year.

 

NIH and NAID wasted countless taxpayer dollars illegally resisting the requirement to tell taxpayers what was happening with their tax dollars. That’s because in the next two years – 2022 and 2023— Fauci’s institute collected the equivalent of 175 years in NIAID royalty payments. Nearly $690 million in just two years vs. $23.9 million over 12 years.

 

We had to sue NIH twice in federal court over their royalty payment database with Judicial Watch, our legal partner, as counsel. It’s been a two-and-a-half-year battle to open the NIH books.

Fluoride is a neurotoxin: brain health of our children at risk

 

Fluoride is an unwanted byproduct of aluminum, fertilizer, and iron ore. It is also intrinsically found at some concentration in all natural water sources. Nonetheless, the fluoride in our nation’s tap water is essentially an untreated industrial waste product that contains trace elements of arsenic and lead. Without the phosphate industry’s fluoride waste discharge, water fluoridation would be prohibitively expensive, and without fluoridation, the phosphate industry would be stuck with an expensive waste disposal problem. So let the people drink it, and the crisis is solved. Oh, and let’s add it to toothpaste too. The problem, among many others, is that a just published study in JAMA is the latest to conclude fluoride is toxic. Indeed, the study exposed that children of pregnant mothers exposed to fluoride had an increased risk of neurobehavioral issues.

Maryhope Howland gave birth to a baby she thought was a boy. But at 6 years old, the child asked her questions such as “Mom, am I a boy? How do you know I’m a boy?”

 

“Once I clued in, I said, ‘The doctors make a best guess based on your body … but only you can know, and we love you no matter what,’” said Howland, now co-lead for the Families United for Trans Rights, an organization of transgender kids and their loved ones.

 

Her child’s questioning didn’t stop there. It marked the beginning of a yearslong evolution not just for her daughter, who came out as nonbinary at age 8 and transgender at 10. It was also a journey for Howland and her husband as they navigated what it means to be trans, ways of affirming their daughter’s gender identity, their responsibilities as parents, and the grief associated with “letting go of one idea of what our life is going to be,” Howland said.

 

“One of the hardest things for us to do as parents is pause when that vision gets interrupted and really listen to what our kiddos are saying to us,” said Nova Bright-Williams, a trans woman who is head of internal training at the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis organization for LGBTQ+ youth.

 

Listening to a child’s experience can be difficult for many parents, regardless of their political or religious beliefs.

 

But there’s good reason to try. “Research is constantly showing that LGBTQ young people report lower rates of attempting suicide when they have access to affirming spaces, communities (and) adults,” Bright-Williams said.
