5th SOPS activates, bolsters Space Delta 9 objectives

The 5th Space Operations Squadron unfurled their colors during an activation ceremony on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, June 3.
The ceremony signified the inactivation of Delta 9’s Detachment 1 and the activation of the 5th SOPS which oversees operations of the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle, an experimental program designed to demonstrate technologies for a reliable, reusable, unmanned space test platform for the U.S. Space Force.
To begin the ceremony, Maj. Eric Wilson, Det. 1 commander, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his exceptional conduct as commander. Wilson highlighted the promising future of the 5th SOPS under the command of Lt. Col. Latasha Spear.
“Fifth SOPS is under great hands with Lt. Col. Spear as I have no doubt she will ensure 5th SOPS is able to continue the great lineage of excellence that Det. 1 Guardians amplified, ensuring mission readiness for the USSF,” Wilson said.
The 5th SOPS was provisionally activated as Operating Location-A, 750th Space Group, on Oct. 1, 1992. However, its roots began in the early 1960s as the Air Force Satellite Control Facility which established one of the Air Force’s major roles in space – satellite operations.
Brig. Gen. Anthony Mastalir, U.S. Space Forces Indo-Pacific commander, served under the original 5th SOPS from 1995 to 1999 and shared his excitement about the activation of 5th SOPS under DEL 9.
“A heartfelt congratulations to DEL 9 and all the men and women of the 5th Space Operations Squadron,” Mastalir said. “I can’t think of a better mission to assume the legacy and lineage of the original 5 SOPS located at Onizuka Air Station in Sunnyvale, California.”
Mastalir also discussed how the 5th SOPS activation will affect the USSF at large, specifically how their mission will help ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific.
“Space Forces Indo-Pacific is one of the many beneficiaries of the ground-breaking missions that will be executed by this new unit. The knowledge gained through test and experimentation at 5 SOPS will be instrumental in our goal to preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific,” Mastalir added.
During the ceremony, Col. Mark Bigley, DEL 9 commander, further expressed the importance and his excitement of the 5th SOPS activating and continuing a legacy of demonstrating technological advancements of the X-37B.
“The first members of 5 SOPS will continue to set the bar of excellence high as well as mark new heights for the future technology capabilities of the X-37B. It is with great honor I welcome 5 SOPS to the USSF,” Bigley said.
Master Sgt. Joseph Wood, 5th SOPS senior enlisted leader, revealed the colors and raised the guidon initiating the assumption-of-command ceremony for the newly activated squadron.
Service members watched as Bigley passed the colors to Spear, entrusting her to lead as the first commander of the 5th SOPS.
Prior to taking command of the 5th SOPS, Spear served as the DEL 5 division chief of joint fires and information operations, Space Forces-Space at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
During her time in this role, she led joint and combined personnel to deliver space electromagnetic warfare targeting effects and planning as well as command and control operations in alignment with Combined Joint Force Space Component Command.
“To the men and women of the mighty 5th SOPS, I am truly honored to be your first commander,” Spear said.
“Fifth SOPS aligns with the objectives of the chief of space operations, Space Operations Command and DEL 9 by contributing to the spacepower of this nation as we collectivity strive to maintain a durable peace for ourselves and our allies in this era of Great Power Competition.”

UFOs May Be Evidence Of "Cryptoterrestrials" Secretly Living Among Us

Aliens passing as humans meet an advanced reptilian race living in a subterranean kingdom. Sounds like the script of a Mork and Mindy vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover episode, but it’s actually the contents of a fantastically speculative new paper about UFOs.
Penned by researchers from Harvard’s Human Flourishing Program and Montana Technological University, the wild study – as yet not peer-reviewed – delves into the slightly insane world of "cryptoterrestrials", which encompasses a bizarre cast of “intelligent beings concealed in stealth here on Earth (e.g., underground), and/or its near environs (e.g., the moon)."
According to the authors, these clandestine Earth-dwellers may in fact be responsible for many of the unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) that are typically attributed to intergalactic visitors.
Jumping down the rabbit hole, the researchers present their first category of potential UFO pilot, which they call “human cryptoterrestrials”.
These are described as “a technologically advanced ancient human civilization that was largely destroyed long ago (e.g., by flood), but continued to exist in remnant form.”
Possibly lurking in volcanoes or deep beneath the ocean, these few surviving ancient superhumans were apparently exposed by Albert Einstein’s former assistant Dr Shirley Wright, who claimed that she and her famous boss were invited to inspect the “biological entities” recovered from the supposed Roswell UFO crash in 1947.
Speaking in 1993, Wright said the pilots were “just humans, but an advanced form,” and that their species “reside underground on our planet.”
Other subtypes of cryptoterrestrials may include highly-advanced non-human primates or reptiles that store their aircraft beneath mountains.
For instance, the Popocatepetl volcano in central Mexico and California’s Mount Shasta are both UFO sighting hotspots, and have therefore been identified as possible residences for these secret yet highly intelligent beings.
Navy personnel reports of Unidentified Submersible Objects (USOs) traveling at incredible speeds, meanwhile, have fuelled speculation that some of these cryptoterrestrials may in fact reside in the ocean.
In one such report from 1987, a New Zealand frigate was supposedly followed by a 243-meter-long (800 foot) USO that traveled at a top speed of around 4,800 kilometers per hour (2,980 miles per hour).
The authors also cite wild claims by the highly controversial Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb - who, surprisingly, had nothing to do with the study - that the Moon may in fact be a cryptoterrestrial base, and houses many of these strange creatures and their incredible spacecraft.
Finally, the researchers say that the engineers behind most UFOs could be hiding in plain sight, and may just be aliens that have mastered the art of blending in as humans.
Admittedly, this all pretty fanciful stuff, and much of the rationale for these claims comes from sources even more dubious than Loeb – including podcaster Joe Rogan and believers in the sunken realm of Atlantis.
Recognizing the many flaws in their proposals, the authors explain that “although this idea is likely to be regarded sceptically by most scientists, such are the nature of some UAP that we argue this possibility should not be summarily dismissed.”
They also admit that they themselves consider the existence of cryptoterrestrials to be “unlikely” – but not impossible.
Based on all the available evidence regarding UFOs, the researchers rate the possibility of cryptoterrestrials actually existing as 10 percent. Most observers will probably see that figure as pretty generous.

US politician says she was 'Men In Blacked' as part of UFO cover-up

A leading US politician claims she was approached by "Men in Black" while investigating a UFO sighting at a military base.
Congresswoman Ana Paulina Luna says she was looking into a sighting over the Eglin Air Force Base training range off the coast of Florida, but was consistently blocked by officials.
The sighting of four “anomalous” objects apparently flying in formation was made by an experienced military pilot on January 26, 2023. It was eventually written off as a stray balloon. Representative Luna followed up on claims of a “cover-up."
She explains on the Grant Mitt podcast that an unnamed member of base personnel had contacted her to claim that the USAF was concealing information about the sighting, which was made both visually and on radar. She explained:
“Being a member of [the oversight committee] we follow up with whistleblowers and we also can conduct our own investigations.”
Representative Luna compared the apparent effort to block her investigation to the “Men in Black” of classic UFO lore, a shadowy organisation tasked with covering up the truth about extraterrestrial encounters.
She claimed the Pentagon initially tried to prevent her from meeting with base personnel. When she did make it out to Eglin, the base commander there challenged her authority to speak to his personnel, which didn’t go down well with Rep. Lua:
“You don't tell Congress that we don't have the authorised clearance – especially members of House Armed Services Oversight and Judiciary Committee,” she explained.
Previously, Congressman Matt Gaetz had spoken to the house of his frustration at not being able to speak to witnesses at the base – including the pilot who allegedly captured photographs of the “acorn-shaped” objects.
Representative Luna – who was herself in the USAF from 2009 to 2014 – says she wasn’t at all happy about being prevented from completing her investigation.
She continued: “I had it out with the base commander which is funny because this guy really thought that he had it going on.
“But then in the middle of our meeting he took off on leave – which never happens, with a member a delegation going to military base.”
She added that there were other people at the meeting who she is “pretty sure” were CIA agents, which is again very unusual, given the circumstances.
Based on what she has been able to find out, she’s convinced that some element of the US government is covering up evidence of UFO sightings. She continued: “I absolutely believe that there are things that are advanced technologies not of human origin.”
The 35-year-old Republican representative for Florida's 13th district says the most disturbing aspect of the alleged cover-up is David Grusch’s testimony to the House of Representatives in July last year. In it, he claimed that some people had even been killed to protect the secret.
She said: “The information that was brought forward was particularly alarming because you’re hearing about people that have potentially been murdered and covering up this information.”
Congresswoman Lima has supposedly seen classified information about the UFO phenomenon that has not yet been released to the public.
She hinted that the mysterious beings responsible for the millions of “alien” encounters are not from outer space, but “inter-dimensional.”

“They're not necessarily a biological entity from another planet per se,” she claimed, adding that she interprets the phenomenon “from a Christian perspective”.
In the past, Representative Luna added, there has been a lot of stigma against people who believe in UFOs, and, reacalling her own experience in the military service, she said pilots were often reluctant to speak about things that they had seen. But she encouraged more people to go public with the information they have.
She continued: “I think now, especially with transparency we hope that more people come forward. The people that have come forward are credible, we've done the background checks on them they're not tinfoil-hat-wearing kooks."
