Well, ICYMI, it is happening, so it clearly makes sense to someone.
If you think about it, there's a very good chance Merchan gets exposed by SCOTUS as a corrupt hack on appeal. So, if the cabal can find/create a loophole like the FB post, Trump skates (as he likely will on appeal anyways), Merchan saves face, and the leftards can maintain their 'Trump was convicted' narrative so it's a win for the communo-globo-homos.
Maybe that's another angle - they get to try DJT all over again so doubles the damage in the lead-up to the election.
They can, of course, choose not to try him again.
