#OTD in 1959, USS Barbero served as a branch post office by launching a Regulus missile carrying 3,000 pieces of mail. The mail was successfully delivered to Jacksonville, FL. The stunt was not about improving mail service. It was to demonstrate the accuracy of US missiles.
