Fed Chair Powell Says Key Interest Rate to Remain Unchanged

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell announces that the Federal Open Market Committee will leave the key interest rate unchanged despite continued job growth, low unemployment, and a continued easing of inflation. Powell says the Federal Reserve remains focused on its twin objectives of economic growth and reducing prices and notes that while inflation has dropped from its peak of seven percent to 2.7 percent, it still remains too high.
