Jesus basically said sell all your stuff if you followed the commandments Jesus was talking about but you're still dumb and unwise as all Hell. You can still be rich and wise like Solomon was if the Lord wants you to be.

Jesus is very unique in that God is not speaking through him as He did with the other prophets. When God is speaking it will say directly "and the Lord said". Jesus was put through some ultimate tests and tribulations to acquire his power. He said you have to suffer a lot and be rejected by your generation, as Noah was. Jesus even basically said you have to hate everyone including yourself to understand the level of faith he had in God - he was willing to give everything to Serve. The story of Jesus visiting his hometown of Nazareth is very revealing (he was rejected by his own people), and when his mother and sibling showed up to see him, he treated them like the lowest person in the crowds he was teaching to. Jesus said only God is Good, when people called Jesus as 'Good'. Jesus was ferocious - anyone thinking he was a only a lovey dovey Buddha type of figure is blind or naive.

The story of Jesus is very multi-layered 5D. To attain the level of a Christ figure, well he basically said everything you had to do and the circumstances.

>it wasn't that being a steward to material things is bad

It isn't, but that rich guy followed all of Jesus' commandments asked what he was still lacking (basically still depressed). The prescription for that kid in specific was to be poor for a while and give to the poor. Some people can still be very wealthy and wise. The stubborn require more motivation, the stupid require more learning, the angry require more fasting… unique prescription for all. But Jesus explained it well in that if you are already very wealthy, it is indeed very hard to give up everything. Jesus wasn't preaching everyone to be poor, which is why at the end of that lesson Jesus said "with God, anything is possible".
