After more than two and a half years on the run, federal authorities caught up with one-time fiscal guru James Arthur McDonald Jr. who was wanted on fraud charges.

However, the high-profile commentator had been living under the radar since November 2021, when the initial fraud allegations against him were made, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California news release.

The former Arcadia, California, resident was arrested Saturday at a residence in Port Orchard, Washington. He will eventually be returned to California to face the charges against him.

McDonald had been summoned by the Securities and Exchange Commission to address fraud allegations, but the news release said at that time his phone and email accounts were terminated and he told at least one person he planned to “vanish.”

NATO Chief Says China Should Be Punished For Helping Russia

The head of NATO Jens Stoltenberg has said that China must pay the price for propping up Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine.

According to the NATO chief, Beijing is “fueling” the conflict by supplying microelectronics and other key components to Moscow.

“The reality is that China is fueling the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II……At the same time, it wants to maintain good relations with the West. Well, Beijing cannot have it both ways. At some point, unless China changes course, allies need to impose a cost.”

RT reports: Stoltenberg has repeatedly attacked China since the Ukraine crisis began in February 2022, arguing that Beijing was enabling Russia to fight against Kiev, a “European friend” of NATO. He has made such comments even as NATO states prolonged the conflict by providing hundreds of billions of dollars in economic and military aid to Ukraine.

Monday’s rebuke marked some of his most pointed criticism yet, suggesting that NATO may ramp up sanctions against China. He also called out North Korea and Iran for being supportive of Russia’s defense-industrial complex.

Stoltenberg reiterated an assertion that NATO – a military bloc originally formed against the Soviet Union – needs to get more involved in the Indo-Pacific to counter the “growing alignment between Russia and its authoritarian friends in Asia.” He noted that he invited the leaders of Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand to next month’s NATO summit in Washington to work together on upholding the “international rules-based order.”

Malaysia Prepares To Join BRICS

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that he has decided to apply for membership and will start filing the official paperwork soon.

He spoke about his decision during an interview with the Chinese outlet Guancha published on Sunday.

“We have made our policy clear and we have made our decision. We will start the formal process soon,” Anwar said. “We are waiting for the final result and the feedback from the South African government.”

RT reports: Kuala Lumpur’s potential membership in the organization would be of strategic significance, as one of the world’s most important shipping lanes – the Malacca Strait, connecting the Pacific and the Indian Ocean – is located between Malaysia and the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

According to Anwar, Malaysia is “relieved” that the world is no longer unipolar, and that the rise of BRICS and China in particular has offered “a glimmer of hope that there are checks and balances in the world.”

The West wants to “control the discourse” in the world, but “we can no longer accept it because they are no longer a colonial power and independent countries should be free to express themselves,” the Malaysian prime minister told Guancha.
