Biden Announces Deportation Protections For Some Illegal Immigrants
President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced that his administration won't deport many illegal immigrants who are married to US citizens, or whose parent is married to a US citizen.
This translates to roughly 500,000 spouses of US citizens, along with 50,000 children, who won't be deported and will be given the ability to gain legal status without leaving the United States, the White House said.
The new program, run by the Department of Homeland Security, will apply to illegal immigrant adults who have lived in the US for at least 10 years as of June 17, and are married to a US citizen.
Biden will read a teleprompter on Tuesday afternoon during an event to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program launched under President Barack Obama while Biden was VP.
As of Sept. 30, 2023, there were 544,690 migrants with protection under the program.

Impeachment Inquiry: Hunter’s Lawyer Used Joe Biden’s Position to Discourage SEC Probe
Hunter Biden’s lawyer invoked President Joe Biden’s position as vice president in what appeared to be an attempt to discourage further scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) into its investigation of a tribal bond scheme that implicated Hunter’s business partner, Devon Archer, the House impeachment inquiry told Breitbart News on Tuesday.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) are demanding the SEC divulge information about its probe involving Hunter’s business associates and inter-connected entities, according to a letter that Breitbart News obtained.
Comer and Jordan suspect Hunter made false statements about his position at Rosemont Seneca Bohai (RSB), which was used to rake in millions from foreign business ventures and associates who met with then-Vice President Joe Biden before and after transmitting money to the RSB account that then transferred funds to Hunter.
Hunter represented that he was corporate secretary of RSB, according to documents obtained as part of the impeachment inquiry, which was directly implicated in a tribal bond scheme that also implicated Archer.
In 2016, attorneys within the SEC’s Enforcement Division investigated the tribal bond scheme in which authorities charged several individuals with violating federal securities laws. In turn, the SEC subpoenaed individuals and entities for documents and communications, including Archer and RSB, an entity utilized by Hunter and Archer, Comer and Jordan told Breitbart News.
Two days after the SEC issued the Archer Subpoena in March 2016, the SEC subpoenaed Hunter, requiring him to provide information concerning Rosemont Seneca Bohai, LLC, the Republicans said.
In response, Hunter’s counsel provided 1,749 documents and asked the commission to treat Hunter’s information with “the highest degree of confidentiality,” citing Hunter’s father as the vice president of the United States, according to Jordan and Comer.
Hunter’s counsel wrote to the SEC in full, according to the impeachment inquiry:
As a threshold matter, we request that you treat this matter with the highest degree of confidentiality, consistent with Commission policy and applicable law. The confidential nature of this investigation is very important to our client and it would be unfair, not just to our client, but also to his father, the Vice President of the United States, if his involvement in an SEC investigation and parallel criminal probe were to become the subject of any media attention.

We also understand the serious risks posed by these technologies. These risks range from the further entrenchment of existing inequalities, to manipulation and misinformation, to the loss of control of autonomous AI systems potentially resulting in human extinction. AI companies themselves have acknowledged these risks [1, 2, 3], as have governments across the world [4, 5, 6] and other AI experts [7, 8, 9].
We are hopeful that these risks can be adequately mitigated with sufficient guidance from the scientific community, policymakers, and the public. However, AI companies have strong financial incentives to avoid effective oversight, and we do not believe bespoke structures of corporate governance are sufficient to change this.
AI companies possess substantial non-public information about the capabilities and limitations of their systems, the adequacy of their protective measures, and the risk levels of different kinds of harm. However, they currently have only weak obligations to share some of this information with governments, and none with civil society. We do not think they can all be relied upon to share it voluntarily.
So long as there is no effective government oversight of these corporations, current and former employees are among the few people who can hold them accountable to the public. Yet broad confidentiality agreements block us from voicing our concerns, except to the very companies that may be failing to address these issues. Ordinary whistleblower protections are insufficient because they focus on illegal activity, whereas many of the risks we are concerned about are not yet regulated. Some of us reasonably fear various forms of retaliation, given the history of such cases across the industry. We are not the first to encounter or speak about these issues.

Project mBridge was launched in 2021 as a collaboration between the BIS’ innovation arm and the central banks of China, Hong Kong, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to test the viability of CBDCs for instantaneous cross-border trade and other payments using the project’s blockchain, the mBridge Ledger.

Israeli Lawmakers Push For Gaza Resettlement
A pair of Knesset members claimed a new occupation was the only way to protect Israel’s security after the Gaza war
Two hard-right Israeli MKs have formed a new legislative caucus seeking to reestablish Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip. The territory was vacated by settlers following a government order in 2005 and has been kept under tight blockade ever since.
Dubbed the “Knesset Caucus for the Renewal of Settlement in the Gaza Strip,” the group was announced on Monday in a joint statement by MK Zvi Sukkot of the Religious Zionism Party and MK Limor Son Har-Melech, a member of the far-right Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) faction.
The lawmakers argued that “settlement in the Gaza Strip [is] a necessary step to protect Israel’s security and ensure its future,” adding “Only by a dense presence of Jewish settlements throughout Gaza will it be possible to prevent the continuation of terrorist threats and deter the enemy.”
Though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated Israel has no plans to govern Gaza following the current war with Hamas, other top officials have loudly endorsed new settlements. During an ultra-nationalist rally in May, national security chief Itamar Ben Gvir stressed the need for “voluntary emigration” by Palestinians to make room for Israelis, while Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi openly called for resettlement. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has likewise backed the idea in public statements.
Last January, more than a dozen government ministers and a group of Knesset members attended a conference to discuss a return to Gaza, including Sukkot and Son Har-Melech, who are both radical settler activists. Ben Gvir and Smotrich were billed as key speakers at the event.
The creation of new Jewish communities in Gaza would almost certainly entail a permanent Israeli security presence, as is currently the case in the occupied West Bank. However, Tel Aviv has so far failed to offer a clear post-war plan for the territory.
Israel’s 2005 pull-out from Gaza saw 21 settlements unilaterally dismantled, with some reluctant residents even forcibly removed by the military. While officials have presented the move as a concession to the Palestinians, a chief architect of the disengagement, Dov Weisglass, explained the policy to Haaretz in no uncertain terms.
“The significance of the disengagement plan is the freezing of the peace process,” Weisglass, a top aide to then-PM Ariel Sharon, told the outlet nearly 20 years ago. “And when you freeze that process, you prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and you prevent a discussion on the refugees, the borders and Jerusalem. Effectively, this whole package called the Palestinian state, with all that it entails, has been removed indefinitely from our agenda.”

In a statement, the IDF says the generals held an assessment, during which “operational plans for an offensive in Lebanon were approved.”
The top commanders also made decisions regarding “accelerating the readiness of the forces on the ground,” the military adds.
The announcement comes amid repeated attacks by Hezbollah and allied Palestinian terror groups in Lebanon on northern Israel, with fears of a wider conflict.
Israel has warned it can no longer tolerate Hezbollah’s presence along its border following the October 7 atrocities, and has warned that should a diplomatic solution not be reached, it will turn to military action to push Hezbollah northward.

Following reports that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken promised Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington would remove all restrictions on weapons transfers to Israel in the coming days, the prime minister went on the record Tuesday to assert that the top American diplomat had given him assurances to that effect.
“When Secretary Blinken was recently here in Israel, we had a candid conversation. I said I deeply appreciated the support the US has given Israel from the beginning of the war,” Netanyahu said in an English-language video.
“But I also said something else, I said it’s inconceivable that in the past few months, the administration has been withholding weapons and ammunitions to Israel,” he added. “Israel, America’s closest ally, fighting for its life, fighting against Iran and our other common enemies.”
“Secretary Blinken assured me that the administration is working day and night to remove these bottlenecks,” Netanyahu continued. “I certainly hope that’s the case. It should be the case. During World War II, Churchill told the US – give us the tools, we’ll do the job. And I say, give us the tools and we’ll finish the job much faster.”
Blinken was asked to confirm Netanyahu’s account of their meeting during a press conference in Washington later Tuesday. The top US diplomat indicated that the Israeli premier was exaggerating the step taken by the US, insisting that only one shipment has been withheld.
“We are continuing to review one shipment that President [Joe] Biden has talked about with regard to 2000-pound bombs because of our concerns about their use in a densely populated area like Rafah. That remains under review,” Blinken said.

“There are a few branches of Hamas — the fighting branch of wicked terrorists who murder children, and the branch of the protests,” Likud MK Nissim Vaturi said in an interview with the ultra-Orthodox Kol Barama radio station, claiming that the mass demonstrations were supporting the Iran-backed terror group.
Vaturi’s comments came in response to a question about violent clashes between police and protesters who marched toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem on Monday evening.
At least three people were hospitalized, with protest organizers accusing police of using excessive force, including employing a water cannon against protesters. Nine people were arrested during the protest.
When the interviewer challenged him, saying relatives of hostages held by terror groups in Gaza have the right to take to the streets to express their rage and call on the government to seal a deal, Vaturi responded, “You know, there are some families who make less of a fuss, and not necessarily those on the right. They’re practical and come to us demanding answers.”

New York midwife pleads guilty to destroying 2,600 COVID-19 vaccines and issuing fraudulent cards
An upstate New York midwife pleaded guilty on Monday to federal fraud charges for her role in giving out thousands of COVID-19 immunization cards to people who never received the vaccine, prosecutors said.
Kathleen Breault, 66, of Cambridge, admitted in Brooklyn federal court that she destroyed more than 2,600 coronavirus vaccines and issued a corresponding number of fraudulent vaccination record cards while working at Sage-Femme Midwifery from 2021 to 2022.
The Albany facility was an authorized site for COVID-19 vaccine administration at a time when many government agencies and private companies were requiring their workers to be immunized against the virus.
U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace’s office said Breault and her co-conspirators also made over 2,600 false entries into a state database that tracked COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
Among those who were issued the fraudulent immunization records were minors ineligible at the time to be vaccinated, as well as Canadian citizens who were not present in the country when they were purportedly vaccinated, according to prosecutors.
Breault agreed to repay more than $37,000 in restitution for the destroyed vaccines and faces a maximum of five years in prison at her sentencing, Peace’s office said.
A lawyer for Breault didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment Monday.
