From what I've seen coupled with personal experiences my guess would be that he wasn't/isn't a pedo. He was weird but not a pedo.
In my experience trauma has one of two outcomes.
The commonly talked about is "social inheritance" - where the abuse becomes normal to the victim and they themselves continue the cycle of abuse on their own kids or others until it is broken by someone else.
The less common is "self reflection" - where the victim realizes that what they are experiencing is not normal and they successfully identify the 'wrongs' they were subjected to.
They often develop a strong need to end all abuse (especially of kids) in an attempt at ensuring no one else will experience what they experienced.
I am in the latter category and I believe MJ is too.
