#OTD 1942, the Japanese submarine I-25 fired seventeen 5.5-inch projectiles at Fort Stevens on the coast of Oregon. Because of incorrect charts, the Japanese thought they were attacking a U.S. sub base. The attack left a few craters but the only damage was to a baseball backstop.
