Kek! Had a friend who was a USAF flight engineer on a C-141 cargo plane. On occasions when the gear would fail to extend and lock it was his job to manually pump a hydraulic system that required 700-1000 strokes with each stroke becoming harder to get the gear down and locked.

Usually the plane was transporting Marines somewhere and he would tell them he had a landing gear issue and that a group of Army Rangers had the record for the fastest time to get the gear down and locked. This was BS of course but the Marines fell for it every time and did his job for him.
