Small plane crashes near Turks and Caicos, authorities say. Two people were aboard
The U.S. Coast Guard is aiding local rescue efforts in the crash of a small plane just off the shore of Turks and Caicos Islands on Saturday, officials said. A Cessna-type aircraft crashed just 10 miles north of Turks and Caicos, Coast Guard Petty Officer Eric Rodriguez said. Two people were aboard. The Coast Guard is sending a helicopter from the Bahamas to assist in the marine rescue. It’s unclear where the plane departed from or what caused the crash.
