Former presidents are entitled to at least a presumption of immunity for their official acts, according to the high court.
Sotomayor proved how stupid she is in her hysterical dissent. “The President is now a king above the law,” Sotomayor said as she echoed Judge Florence Pan’s SEAL Team 6 assassination hypothetical.

Yesterday, a Russian Orlan surveillance drone was surveilling the Mirgorod air base, and spotted ‘at least six’ Ukrainian Su-27 supersonic fighters parked in the open at the base in broad daylight.
A Russian Iskander missile attack followed. Iskander operational-tactical missile system was initiated to strike the Ukrainian Mirgorod airfield.
Ukrainians say two of the planes were destroyed, and the other four were damaged. The Russian Ministry of Defense states that five operational Su-27 multirole fighters were destroyed, and two under repair were damaged.

In a landmark decision, a federal jury has ordered Blue Cross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) to pay nearly $700,000 to Tanja Benton, a former employee who was terminated for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine based on her religious beliefs.
Benton, who served as a Bio Statistical Research Scientist, asserts that her role involved minimal client interaction and no necessity for physical presence at medical facilities.
Throughout her 16-year tenure, Benton primarily worked independently and remotely, especially during the pandemic, when she executed her duties without issue from March 2020 to November 2021. Despite this, BCBST enforced a company-wide vaccine mandate in August 2021, requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated as a condition of continued employment.
Benton, guided by her deeply held religious beliefs, refused the vaccine, citing her objection to the use of aborted fetus cell lines in vaccine development. The downturn reflects a broader trend of reduced activity in new home construction and renovations, with levels now 24% below the peak of April 2021.

Young Canadians are struggling to find work, with statistics showing fewer youths were employed in May than they were at the height of the Great Recession.
Unemployment among Canadian youth spiked significantly this year, bringing the rate of increase just under that of the 2008-2009 recession and leaving the employment rate worse than at any point during that time.
The authors of a Frasier Institute study want government policymakers and economists to be alert about the potentially disastrous effects of the growing number of young Canadians who are “not attached to the labour market.”
The number of young Canadians who are willing and able to work but can not find employment is on the rise.
Researchers found that the employment rate of youth aged 15-24 in May was 55.6%, the lowest annual figure for any year during the 2008–09 financial crisis.
During the crash, the employment rate for that age group dropped by 4.5% from a high of 60.5 to a low of 56%.
The study found that between January 2023 and 2024, the employment rate for Canadian youth dropped by 3.8%, a “slightly smaller” decline than that seen during the 2008-09 recession. Continue…

After two-and-a-half hours of entirely mundane and politically correct corporate floats, Toronto’s Pride parade came to an abrupt halt Sunday when a series of keffiyeh-clad pink- and purple-haired pro-Palestinian dykes occupied Yonge St.
Like the Black Lives Matters protesters which shut down the parade for 25 minutes in 2016, a motley group of about 20 women planted themselves halfway down the route screaming that Pride was associated with genocide and apartheid.
The self-described “Coalition Against Pinkwashing” shouted demands for Pride to disassociate itself from apartheid (presumably Israel which is anything but an apartheid state) while — laughingly — a group of naked men waddled by.
Pride’s organizers, clearly unwilling to have these interlopers removed by police, abruptly put an end to the parade — attended, according to police, by about 300,000 spectators — and issued a statement indicating they did it out of fears for “public safety.”

A Trudeau government-appointed committee is calling for radical reforms to the criminal justice system as part of Canada’s Black Justice Strategy.
The external steering group for the Black Justice Strategy issued 114 recommendations from an “anti-racist” lens for the federal government to pursue in combating so-called systemic racism against black Canadians.
Having the government appoint a committee to explore paying black Canadians reparations for slavery and segregation, creating courts specifically for black offenders, and rolling back drug possession laws, are just some of the recommendations included in the report.
The strategy’s stated pillars include addressing so-called “social determinants of justice,” reducing over-policing, focusing on court reform and legislative changes, as well as correctional reentry and integration to reduce recidivism rates.
The strategy calls on the government to reduce the rate of incarceration for black people by 30% relative to the population by 2034. The report also recommends that the government cut incarceration rates of black and Indigenous Canadians by 50% by releasing individuals currently held in custody and arresting fewer black people.
The steering committee recommended that the government establish a committee of black academics and community leaders to study options for reparations to black Canadians for slavery, segregation, and racially biased laws.
The report also recommends that black Canadians be given preferential treatment to a variety of government programs. This includes creating black-specific job programs, prioritizing black Canadians for apprenticeship and entrepreneur programs, and prioritizing black people in Canada’s national housing strategy. More than $600 million in pension dues have been invested in China’s electric vehicle sector, according to disclosures from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland blamed China last week for flooding the market with inexpensive electric vehicles (EVs), as part of “intentional, state-directed policy.”
Cabinet last Monday said it would review the impacts of Chinese EVs on domestic industry. Federal and provincial governments have allocated more than $52 billion in subsidies to ensure EVs are manufactured domestically.
However, the Pension Plan Investment Board disclosed $604 million in shares in the Chinese electric vehicle sector, reported Blacklock’s Reporter. No reason was given.
Stock bought with Canada Pension premiums included $287 million in Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd., the world’s largest electric auto battery manufacturer. Canadians also own $12 million worth of stock in Great Wall Motor Co., maker of Ora-brand electric cars.
The only Chinese EVs currently sold in Canada are produced by Tesla Inc., which reported a 9% drop in earnings due to sagging demand.
EV purchases plateaued in the third quarter of 2023, according to Statistics Canada.
Other Pension Plan holdings include automakers BYD Co. ($116 million), Li Auto Inc. ($69 million) Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. ($26 million) and Nio Inc. ($19 million).
