Canada’s “climate change” envoy racked up over $250,000 in luxury travel expenses

In August 2022, the Libreral government appointed Catherine Stewart as Canada’s “Ambassador For Climate Change”. In the words of Justin Trudeau at the time of her appointment, Stewart would

“drive Canada’s continued collaboration with the international community to build a clean, healthy future for everyone – here in Canada and beyond”

And drive collaboration she did – to the tune of over a quarter million dollars worth of luxury hotel stays, and business class airfare. In one notable instance, Stewart billed the taxpayers of this country over $10,000 for a three day jaunt from Toronto to Ottawa including airfare and $323 a night room at the Sheraton Centre Hotel to attend a climate conference “to promote Canada’s clean growth.”

The flight to Ottawa from Toronto is about 45 minutes, or an hour gate-to-gate. There are flights every hour from both Pearson and Billy Bishop for a few hundred bucks each way, and maybe a grand for business class. If you deduct the luxury hotel ($900) from the total tab, it leaves $9,000 – which really can only mean one thing: private jet.

Stewart is taking one for the team, flying first class, or even private, staying in luxury hotels all over Europe, while attending climate emergency confabs so you won’t have to (that’s if you’re permitted to travel at all)

This is just the latest episode of climate hypocrisy from the Canadian government. Continue…

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is still being booed by a small section of fans at major tournaments, with speculation that part of it is driven by his stance against the mandatory COVID vaccine stretching back years.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion accused the Centre Court crowd of “crossing the line” and disrespecting him after he beat Dane Holger Rune in three straight sets last night.

The crowd repeatedly chanted “Rune” throughout the match, which Djokovic claimed was an attempt to antagonize him because the word sounds like “boo!”

“To all the fans that have had respect and stayed here tonight, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I appreciate it,” said Djokovic.

“And to all those people that have chosen to disrespect the player – in this case me – have a goooooooood night,” he joked.

'Not Allowed Off The Hook': Purdue Creditors Ask Court To Sue Sackler Family Members

Nearly two weeks after the US Supreme Court tossed out a $6 billion bankruptcy settlement agreed upon by the Sackler family to address claims that the OxyContin manufacturer fueled America's opioid crisis, the court-appointed committee of Purdue creditors on Monday asked a US bankruptcy court if they could sue individual Sackler family members. The creditors allege that the Sacklers illegally transferred billions of dollars to offshore private trusts before Purdue's 2019 bankruptcy filing.

A court filing from Purdue's creditors, which include individuals harmed by the opioid epidemic as well as insurers and companies with opioid claims, requested the urgent need to sue Sackler family members and ensure they are not "allowed 'off the hook' for their grotesque misconduct in creating and fueling the opioid crisis," according to Reuters.

If a new round of mediation between the estate, which represents the Purdue company and not the Sackler family, fails, creditors could begin the process of suing the family to recover more than $11.5 billion. Creditors allege the family shifted Purdue profits into offshore trusts ahead of the company's 2019 bankruptcy.

In late June, the Supreme Court ruled that the $6 billion settlement deal would be terminated because it would have improperly shielded members of the Sackler family from future lawsuits. Continue…

But there's a key and unprecedented provision in this newest pact with Poland, centered on authorization for Polish forces to intercept inbound Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory.

Have you heard the latest buzz out of Saskatoon?

An agricultural technology firm will be opening its North American Insect Centre in the Saskatchewan city this month, with a focus on creating livestock feed out of flies.

NRGene Canada said that its new facility will be open on July 30 and will be developed in collaboration with Swiss technology group Bühler to conduct research and development of soldier fly strains, notably the black soldier flies, native to South America.

The company’s goal is to promote insect protein as a sustainable source for livestock feed.

The insects feed on decaying organic matter, making them a prominent choice for reducing composting and manure, and NRGene plans to use such agricultural byproducts to feed them.

NRGene uses data analysis and artificial intelligence to develop better genetics, creating flies with larger larvae and reduced hatch time. Continue…

Saskatchewan granted injunction to block CRA from collecting carbon tax

A court has granted Saskatchewan an emergency injunction against the Canada Revenue Agency to block the federal government from collecting the carbon tax directly.

The province’s court victory was announced Monday by Attorney General Bronwyn Eyre.

The minister said the province sought an injunction “to stop this unfair and unconstitutional cash grab by the Trudeau government.”

“The court ruled in our favour, blocking the federal government from unconstitutionally garnishing money, pending the full hearing and determination of the continuation of the injunction by the Federal Court,” said Eyre in a Facebook post.

The injunction was filed after the federal Liberal government sent the Canada Revenue Agency after the Saskatchewan government for refusing to collect the carbon tax provincially. Continue…

The full-length interrogation of Anthony Olienick by RCMP was made available to the public as part of the ongoing Coutts trial.

During the winter of 2022, a protest movement formed against Canada's continued enforcement of COVID-19 restrictions. Spurred by truckers opposing a cross-border vaccine mandate, the Freedom Convoy saw Canadians from across the country converge in Ottawa in protest of these so-called public health measures.

But not every protester went to Ottawa; in Alberta, many took to the province's border crossing with the United States in the small town of Coutts. Alongside the convoy in Ottawa, protesters at Coutts also demanded an end to government edicts and mandates in response to the virus.

A standoff at the border between protesters and police ensued, in what came to be known as the Coutts Border Blockade.

The demonstration came to an end when RCMP officers laid serious charges — conspiring to murder police officers — against four of the men involved. Two of those men, Christopher Lysak and Jerry Morin, agreed to plea deals on lesser charges and were released earlier this year.

The two remaining men, Chris Carbert and Anthony Olienick, remained behind bars and are now facing a trial. As part of the evidence presented during the trial, the entire, more than five-hour long RCMP interrogation of Anthony Olienick was entered into evidence.
