The U.S. Marshals have announced they rescued over 200 missing and endangered children during a six-week operation called “Operation We Will Find You 2”.

The agency announced that from May 20 to June 24, it had rescued 173 endangered children and located 25 missing children.

U.S. Marshals Service Director Ronald Davis, in a statement, shared, “Whenever a child is missing, whether we cannot explain how they went missing, whether we think it was a family abduction, or whether it’s a runaway, they are at risk of being in danger and at risk of being trafficked, at risk of being hurt, we need to take it very, very seriously.”

Multiple Pride parades in Atlantic Canada have announced their support for the Palestinian cause to honour their “commitment to intersectionality.”

One Pride parade went as far as to claim that “queer liberation is Palestinian liberation,” despite same-sex activity being prohibited in Gaza.

St. John’s Pride in Newfoundland is one of the groups that has pledged support for Palestine.

“In a continuous effort to honour our commitment to intersectionality and the liberation of all peoples, St. John’s Pride has engaged in dialogue with Palestine Action WT,” organizers said. “Recognizing the significance of inclusivity and solidarity, we have invited Palestine Action YYT to lead this year’s Pride parade.”

Parade organizers have also pledged to support boycotting institutions on the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) list.

“Pride is here. Pride is for everyone. We are committed to the liberation of all of us, not some of us,” parade organizers noted.

The St. John’s Pride Parade is set to take place July 21.

Another video from the Pride weekend events, billed by organizers as family friendly, showed a naked woman slapping her backside in front of a crowd watching a drag performer on the street.

A man wearing a leather thong approached a family with two children on the sidelines of the march, where his groin was at the children’s eye level.

At Friday’s Trans Pride Parade in Toronto, several barely-dressed men wearing transgender flags walked past children. Nudists had a booth inviting people – including minors – to join a naked swimming club.

GTA Skinny Dippers welcomes children to swim naked with them. The group also offers free memberships to children ages 14 to 18, with youth in that age group welcome without being accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“Far-right” women contributing to threats against democracy: RCMP report

An RCMP warning about citizen movements threatening democracy takes note that women in particular are being drawn to the “far-right.”

Citing dubious statistics by anti-hate researchers, the RCMP’s recently published 2023 Environmental Scan highlights the supposed increase in radicalization driven by factors such as socioeconomic instability, polarization and political distrust.

One of the chief social concerns threatening democracy is the rise of mass citizen movements according to the federal police force.

“Society is fragmenting into smaller communities based on common interests and backgrounds, increasing social polarization,” reads the report.

“Democracies around the world are under threat from large-scale movements and citizen protests.”

These push factors, exacerbated by the pandemic, are said to have created an environment conducive to the spread of far-right ideologies, particularly among women.

“Trends suggest that more women are gravitating towards far-right movements in Canada,” wrote the RCMP.

Author and University of Buckingham politics professor Eric Kaufmann told True North that the “gross exaggeration” of the threat level posed by the far-right was what he termed the “fascist scare” in his latest book.

“I think the threat level is, by any measure (terrorist incidents, hate crime convictions), negligible. More like a freak event such as being killed in a lightning strike than a high threat like dying from a virus or automobile accident,” Kaufmann told True North.

“Certainly less of a concern – when divided by its demographic constituency – than the threat from Islamism or foreign nationalist terrorism on Canadian soil.”

Instead, Kaufmann said the real threat was the “woke capture of institutions, which reduces trust in the system among the anti-woke majority of the public.” Continue…

Organizers of the University of Toronto’s anti-Israel encampment say that despite a court injunction to remove them by Wednesday evening, they will not be silenced.

“No amount of police presence, no threat of legal action, no Zionist threat, and no attempt to smear our movement will deter us from our mission,” said Mohammad Yassin during a press conference held by the OccupyUofT group following the injunction.

“We stand here united, stronger than ever, with a resolve that cannot be shaken.”

The injunction granted by an Ontario court gives police the authority to arrest and remove anyone who refuses to comply with the court order, mandating the encampment’s dismantling by 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

The University of Toronto confirmed that on top of encampments needing to evacuate the premises by 6:00 pm, any further erection of structures between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am without authorization from the university is prohibited.

“We expect those in the encampment to abide by the court order and vacate the encampment before the court-imposed deadline. Anyone who chooses to remain in the encampment after the deadline is subject to consequences under University policy and the law,” said the university.

“The University welcomes vigorous debate and protest. Today’s court order returns Front Campus to the entire University community and prevents any one group from asserting control of a shared space at the University in order to promote a particular view and deprive others of the freedom to express opposing viewpoints,” the university added. Sikh organization donated thousands to former minister Sajjan during Afghanistan evacuation

A Sikh organization implicated in former defence minister Harjit Sajjan’s order to evacuate Sikhs from Afghanistan during the retreat from Kabul had donated several thousands of dollars to Sajjan in the form of political contributions.

According to a Globe and Mail report from last week, the Manmeet Singh Bhullar Foundation – a Sikh charity dedicated to saving minorities in Afghanistan – had been in contact with Sajjan in 2021 while he was overseeing Canada’s evacuation from the region.

As defence minister, Sajjan ordered the Canadian special forces to undertake a mission to rescue the Afghani Sikhs as he continued to liaise with the Manmeet Singh Bhullar Foundation, who themselves were in active contact with the Sikhs on the ground.

However, it has been discovered that all four directors from the Manmeet Singh Bhullar Foundation had donated thousands of dollars to Sajjan’s riding association during the airlift out of Afghanistan and afterwards.

The first donation came from Tarjinder Bhullar on Aug 19, 2021, donating $510.10 to the Vancouver South Liberal riding association.

The next two donations came a few days later, with Apharnarayan Bhullar and Blajinder Bhullar donating $1,000 each to Sajjan’s riding association on Aug 22, 2021.

One day after the evacuation mission from Kabul was finished on Aug 26, 2021, the final director Namrita Rattan donated $1,650 to Sajjan’s riding association on Aug 27.

Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions ban all outdoor water use. Fines for violating restrictions start at $3,000.

The state of emergency and subsequent restrictions affected Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore, and Tsuut’ina Nation. The state of emergency was implemented so that Calgary could access private property if required for repair work. It is set to expire Thursday, and Calgary’s chief of the emergency management agency, Susan Henry, will announce whether it needs to be renewed or can be lifted at a future update.

Gondek apologized again for her poor communication during the water crisis. She has called for a comprehensive third-party review of what happened to the pipe, the steps taken to fix it, and a review of the city’s response. The review of the city’s response will aim to specifically address communication issues that led to neighbouring communities not receiving necessary information in a timely fashion.

Ottawa launches residential school interactive map to help burial search

Ottawa has released a new interactive online map with the locations of former residential schools meant to identify unmarked graves as the majority of residential school buildings have been demolished.

The Indian Residential Schools Interactive Map allows the public to locate where the former buildings stood and includes historical and contemporary aerial photos.

The interactive map excludes Indian hospitals, tuberculosis sanatoriums, day schools or boarding schools that were not funded by the federal government.

There are currently over 100 Indigenous communities involved in residential school grave searches.

According to independent special interlocutor for missing children in unmarked burials Kimberly Murray,, these communities had to pay to access aerial maps from libraries and obtain records through access-to-information requests from the government.

“The more information that is out there for communities, the better,” Murray told CBC News. “But I do think that Canada hasn’t gone far enough in what it’s made available.”

Murray believes that these maps will help combat misinformation and disinformation around residential schools, or so-called “denialism.” Continue…

Legal Aid Alberta faces potential shutdown as province ends funding agreement

Low-income Albertans may soon have to represent themselves in court, as the provincial government chose not to renew the legal aid governance agreement. The denial “ensures complete breakdown of the province’s justice system,” according to some law organizations.

This stark warning was issued by the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association of Calgary, the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association in Edmonton, the Southern Alberta Defence Lawyers’ Association, and the Red Deer Criminal Lawyers Association.

The lawyer organizations said in a post shared on X that they were “shocked and appalled to receive news from Legal Aid Alberta today about the government’s failure to sign the new Legal Aid Governance Agreement.”

Some form of a governance agreement has been in place for over 50 years, allowing Legal Aid Alberta to provide legal services for low-income and vulnerable Albertans. The most recent version was signed in 2019 by Legal Aid Alberta, the Minister of Justice, and the Law Society of Alberta.

“The government’s unceremonious cancellation of the scheduled signing of that agreement was followed by silence before a last-minute ultimatum that would fundamentally change who controlled the delivery of legal aid services in Alberta,” wrote the four organizations.

The existing agreement expired on June 30. Without a new agreement, Legal Aid Alberta will no longer be permitted to issue certificates to assign defence lawyers for cases beyond July 9. This would result in many low-income Albertans having to represent themselves in court, potentially leading to further delays or charges being dropped.

A 2016 Supreme Court of Canada ruling set a ceiling of 18 months between the charges and trial in a provincial court without a preliminary inquiry, or 30 months in other cases before some charges are dropped. Continue…

A councillor in British Columbia’s capital city wants residents compensated for the lawlessness he says has taken over.

Coun. Stephen Hammond is proposing financial compensation for businesses and residents dealing with the issue.

“Residents who, by virtue of their business or home location are repeatedly exposed to the impacts of crime, nuisance and/or social disorder, question why they are paying the same taxes as other residents and businesses who do not have to endure the same negative activities,” the motion says.

“One perspective is that the city should pay for some of the costs for responding to these activities for those who pay taxes but are not living the same city experiences as most others. Another perspective is that the city should pay for loss of the standard of peace and order that accompanies most of the residents and businesses in Victoria.

Hammond’s motion is currently before the City of Victoria’s committee of the whole. Continue…

The University of Toronto’s anti-Israel encampment quickly dismantled most of the structures and evacuated the area an hour before police were set to arrive.

The Toronto Police Service issued numerous warnings, urging protesters to leave by 6:00 pm on Wednesday to avoid any enforcement.

One of the warnings issued in a post to X said that refusing to leave would disobey a court order and obstruct police in their duty to enforce the injunction.

“Both are criminal offences. Having a criminal record has serious long-term consequences. Please leave voluntarily to avoid police action,” wrote the Toronto Police.

The warnings followed an injunction granted the day prior, which gave police the authority to arrest and remove anyone who refused to comply with the court order by the designated time.

Anti-Israel protesters who refused to leave peacefully in Calgary after being trespassed were dispersed by police equipped with guns containing rubber bullets, using riot shields, bicycles, and flashbangs.

The encampment was established on May 2, and the university issued a trespass notice soon after. The protesters remained beyond the initial deadline, prompting the university to request an expedited injunction order from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Continue…

Before 2020 we had a different measure of people’s ethical standing -the 9/11 litmus test. This was articulated in a video, the transcript of which reads,

In 2010, Julian Assange told the Belfast Telegraph,

The litmus test continues,

Anyone who promotes the official story; who accepts the official story, who oppresses those who doubt the official story, who does not question the official story, is involved or too stupid to pat their head and chew gum at the same time.”

At the Holberg Debate in 2017, Assange answered a question by saying,

on the 9/11 issue generally I don’t think it is particularly important.”

The litmus test concludes,

Everyone in government; in the media, in entertainment, in organized religion, in the public eye and in the public who accepts and promotes the official story is either a traitor or a tool.”

Assange’s views on 9/11 tally with those of his supporter, MIT professor Noam Chomsky, who despite knowing better, said of the case for controlled demolition,

I think it’s completely wrong- but also I think it’s diverting people away from serious issues. I mean even if it is true, which is extremely unlikely, who cares? I mean it doesn’t have any significance.”

There are those who consider the truth of the foundational event of the ‘War on Terror,’ to be important, and the concordant evidence that disproves the official 9/11 story to be significant.

“In our current world of increasingly fragmented and polarized public discourse the work of communications specialists will be key in preserving the integrity of our democracy,” it said, but failed to provide any examples of “fragmented” or “polarized” discourse.

“We have worked to inform, correct facts, raise awareness, mobilize individuals and communities and encourage people to participate,” the report claimed.

“We have done so in a challenging environment marked by misinformation and a growing distrust of government and democratic institutions,” it continued.

The researchers calculated the median mortality rates among children ages 0-19 with rates in Canada, Australia, Japan, and several European countries, from 1999 to 2019.

They compared those rates to median mortality rates among the same age groups in the U.S. to identify excess deaths in the U.S.

Excess deaths are the number above and beyond those median rates.

They found that in the U.S., there were 413,948 excess deaths among young people during that time.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government has implemented its digital services tax despite years of repeated warning that the United States would retaliate against such a move.

The digital services tax is a levy placed on technology companies that provide a digital service to Canadians, granted they earn at least $1.1 billion in annual global revenues and at least $20,000,000 annually in Canada.

These include tech companies Meta, which operates Facebook and Instagram, as well as Google, Amazon, Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, Netflix, and Spotify.

As of last week, the federal government began taxing 3% of all Canadian revenues from the companies.

The government also plans to apply the tax retroactively to cover money the companies made since 2022, boostingthe government’s expected tax revenues.

Trudeau’s tech tax has angered the United States government, which has repeatedly warned a reciprocal move.

Saskatchewan is taking legal action against Ottawa, accusing the Trudeau government of treating the province unfairly and violating the Constitution.

The Liberals have sent the Canada Revenue Agency after the Saskatchewan government for refusing to collect the carbon tax. Consequently, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Bronwyn Eyre, announced filing an injunction “to stop this unfair and unconstitutional cash grab by the Trudeau government.”

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe echoed the minister’s concerns in a post to X, where he deemed sending the CRA after the province’s bank account was “unfair and unconstitutional.”

Canada’s Minister of National Revenue, Marie-Claude Bibeau told True North that Saskatchewan is a registered distributor in non-compliance with the fuel charge under the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act.

“With the adoption of Bill 151, the Government of Saskatchewan chose to step into the role of an assigned distributor, obligated to adhere to the law like any other. The GGPPA spells out the consequences for non-compliance, and the Supreme Court of Canada has confirmed its constitutionality (2021),” said the minister.

The Canada Revenue Agency has pursued collections as required by law, according to Bibeau.

“We stand firm in upholding the law and will continue to deliver the full Canadian Carbon Rebate to the people of Saskatchewan. Our commitment to fairness and equality for all Canadians is unwavering, as we strive to level the playing field and champion environmental responsibility nationwide,” said Bibeau.

About 100 members of the Jewish and Iranian communities gathered at Queen’s Park Wednesday evening to tell Premier Doug Ford what they thought of the decision to kick MPP Goldie Ghamari out of his Progressive Conservative caucus.

Touting signs reading “Doug Ford stop caving to Anti-Semites” and “Investigate NCCM (the National Council of Canadian Muslims)” organizers spoke of how supportive the Iranian-born Ghamari has been to the Toronto Jewish community since the atrocities of Oct. 7.

”Bring her back, bring her back,” the crowd repeatedly chanted.

Ford issued a statement late last Friday before the long weekend indicating the controversial Carleton MPP was being removed for her “serious lapses in judgement.”

The removal followed a virtual meeting between Ghamari and prominent right-wing Brit Tommy Robinson to discuss the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), recently declared a terrorist entity by the Canadian government.

After the NCCM pressured the Ford government to remove her from caucus, Ghamari said she was not aware of Robinson’s background or his apparent history of Islamophobia.

He and members of his caucus were nowhere to be seen Wednesday evening.

Salman Sima, once a prisoner of the Iranian regime, said the issue with Ghamari is a “matter of freedom of speech” not just for politicians but for every Canadian citizen.

Daniel Bordman, a Jewish activist who organized the rally, said Ghamari has been a “voice of reason” in a time of “madness.”

He said the MPP has been the “first to jump up in defence” of the Jewish community whenever a politician attacks Israel and the Jews.

Bordman said Ghamari has done an excellent job and Ford “has not” despite promises to support the Jewish community.

He has sent a message for the past nine months that “anything goes,” Bordman said. Continue…

Canadians can expect to shell out at least $200 million on the Liberal government’s “online harms” enforcement regime, which critics have blasted for violating freedom of expression.

Streaming giants file court challenge against CRTC over forced subsidy of legacy media

A group of U.S. streaming companies have asked a Canadian court to halt their financial obligations under the Online Streaming Act, which would force them to fork over 5% of Canadian sales to support Canadian news broadcasting.

The request was made by the Motion Picture Association Canada, an industry group representing major American companies who produce and distribute content in Canada, specifically Netflix, Walt Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Paramount Global. The group says CRTC “acted unreasonably” in imposing the requirement.

“The CRTC’s decision to require global entertainment streaming services to pay for local news is a discriminatory measure that goes far beyond what Parliament intended, exceeds the CRTC’s authority, and contradicts the goal of creating a modern, flexible framework that recognizes the nature of the services global streamers provide,” said Wendy Noss, president of the Motion Picture Association Canada

According to the association, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission order exceeds the broadcast regulator’s authority and doesn’t recognize the billions of dollars spent within Canada each year by those streaming giants.

The association seeking appeal court intervention said that global studios and streaming services have spent over $6.7 billion annually producing content in Canada made by Canadian production companies.

That figure is an investment which goes far beyond the CBC, Canada Media Fund, and Telefilm combined. Continue…

Newfoundland business cancels Pride event over anti-Israel group’s inclusion

A Newfoundland business is backing away from a planned Pride event in protest of St. John’s Pride’s decision to make an anti-Israel group this year’s parade grand marshal.

Harvey’s Home Heating was set to sponsor “Pride on the Pier” for the fourth year in a row on July 22 but dropped support after St. John’s Pride invited Palestine Action YYT to lead its July Pride Parade.

Palestine Action YYT agreed to lead the parade, but its demands involved excluding any company which puts money into Israel as part of the Boycott Divestment Sanctions movement against the Jewish state.

The general manager of Harvey’s Home Heating, Chris Forward, dropped out of the event he had helped host since 2021, and as a consequence, it was cancelled. He said the move to have Palestine Action YYT in charge was done too quickly and with little contributor input.

Pride on the Pier was billed as an annual “all-ages event” featuring drag performers on the Alt Hotel terrace. It is just one stop in the weekend-long Pride festival in St. John’s. Continue…

Canada’s economy saw little change with jobs remaining relatively stagnant while the working population skyrocketed leading to higher unemployment.

Canada’s unemployment rate climbed to 6.4% in Jun., up from 6.2% in May, continuing its rise of 1.3% since Apr. 2023, according to Statistics Canada.

Despite rising unemployment, average hourly wages increased by 5.4% since last Jun.

Meanwhile, Canada’s working population grew by almost 100,000 between May and Jun. 2024.
