regular breeding of seeds that have been done for centuries is normal cross breeding of plants. A Cherokee purple tomato with a Wisconsin 55 for example would be one such cross breeding within the same species.

GMO doesn't involve natural breeding within a species. It involve combining organisms genetically when it could never occur in nature. Like placing a gene from a fish into a potato. That could never occur in nature. Much of what they do to our food on the molecular level is an abomination. Insecticides that are within the fruit itself are introduced genetically and you can't wash that off.
There are relatively few fruits and veg that are GMO. Almost all corn, rice and soy are GMO Potatoes and Apples have recently been approved but most are not GMO. Pineapple is largely GMO
