Actually, marxism, national socialism, democratic socialism, anarchy-syndicalism, communitarianism, etc…are all variants of socialism. And these groups often were at odds with one another. The nazis were indeed opposed to Marx and it would be incorrect to say that national socialism was derivative of Marxism…both were derivative of the proto-socialism of the Enlightenment period (Charles Fourier and the like).
