i had a similar prob…
there were no "studs" where the tv bracket could mount and support the tv safely and still be centered over the fp
fixed it with a 14inch by 36 inch piece of three quarter inch plywood mounted on the existing wall and then i could center the mounts and tv over the fp
then i thought why not add two wall mount speakers - one on either side of the tellie! so i cut a bigger board and just did it! added one of those raceway channels to hide the cabling. looks fine, as does yours!
