It's called Midazolam. It causes anterograde amnesia but the patient is still alert and can talk and more around. The patient is unable to form new memories when under the influence of Midazolam. It came out in the 1980s and was touted as a wonder drug in pediatrics to keep kids from suffering from anxiety prior to medical procedures.

It is an evil drug. Still used today for surgical procedures. And my guess would be for other nefarious purposes.
