Frens, let's chat about Potato's 6 handicap. Anon is a golfer, and maintains a USGA handicap which allows me access to every golfer who keeps one as well. Below is Sleepy's handicap. The way handicaps work is they take you 8 best scores out of 20, indexed up or down based on the difficulty of the course (indicated by c.r./slope). If you have less than 20 scores, they index you based on your top 4 scores until you have 20. The rounds that count toward your handicap are indicated with a star to the left of the score. Sleepy had exactly 12 rounds that he entered into the system, and that was over a 5 year period from 2013 to 2018. In other words, he was posting around 2 rounds per year.

Point #1, according to USGA rules, all golfers who maintain a handicap must post every score.

Point #2, as a golfer (anon is an honest 11 handicap), I can assure you that no golfer playing only 2 rounds per year is scoring in the 80s. An accomplished amateur golfer who is only playing occasionally is lucky to score in the 90's. The game requires incredible amounts of practice and frequent play.

Point #3, amateur golfers who bet on their games or compete in club championships have been known to sandbag their scores to keep their handicap high, thus increasing their odds during money games or club championships. But some amateur golfers who don't bet or play in club championships do the opposite…they only post their best scores. This is referred to in golfing circles as a vanity handicap. I play with a few guys who do this, and it's painfully obvious.

Point #4, amateur golfers who are chasing a vanity handicap not only cherry pick the scores they enter, they also cheat during their rounds. They take mulligans, they take a gimme on 5 foot putts, they "find" lost balls or balls hit into the deep weeds that magically appear in the first cut of rough. They shave their scores (a triple bogey is marked as a bogey), and they improve their lies.

Final analysis, Joe wasn't "lying" when he said he was a 6 handicap. But he cheated his way to getting a total bullshit vanity handicap.

Note: sauce is here, but won't do anons any good unless you subscribe to the GHIN (Golf Handicap Information Network) system. https://www.ghin.com/golfer-lookup/golfer/53616c7465645f5f33fc95da71df965aa376a39bed05f717/club/22357

Side note: Anon played Fieldstone a few years ago with a business colleague who is a member. Biden was widely known as a complete jerk and a known cheater.

not earth shattering or surprising, but thought anons might find it amusing. Also note, most public figures block their profiles on the GHIN system for obvious reasons. Those public figures who leave theirs open for other golfers to view are narcissistic attention seekers.
