AAF: The Triumphs of the 2016 RNC Platform

TOPLINE: The 2016 Republican National Convention platform, retained in 2020, was the most principled conservative platform in nearly 40 years. As always, liberal Republicans want to water down many of the Conservative Movements' favorite planks. Grassroots conservatives must remain vigilant in defense of a strong conservative platform.

Human Dignity and the Family:

• Pro-Life:

• "We assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed."

• "We oppose the use of public funds to perform or promote abortion or to fund organizations, like Planned Parenthood, so long as they provide or refer for elective abortions or sell fetal body parts."

"We urge all states and Congress to make it a crime to acquire, transfer, or sell fetal tissues from elective abortions for research, and we call on Congress to enact a ban on any sale of fetal body parts."

• "We will not fund or subsidize healthcare that includes abortion coverage."

• We call on Congress to enact the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

• IVF and Bioethics:

• "We oppose federal funding for harvesting embryos and call for a ban on human cloning."

• Marriage:

• "Marriage between one man and one woman is the foundation for a free society."

• "We… condemn the Supreme Court's lawless ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges."

Taxes and Trade:

• "Republicans consider the establishment of a pro-growth tax code a moral imperative."

• "We propose to level the international playing field by lowering the corporate tax rate to be on a par with, or below, the rates of other industrial nations."

• "We look to broaden our trade agreements with countries which share our values and commitment to fairness."

Foreign Policy:

• Ukraine: "We will not accept any territorial change in Eastern Europe imposed by force… We also support providing appropriate assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine."

• Israel: We stated our "unequivocal support for Israel" and rejected two-state solutions.

• Taiwan: "The United States… will help Taiwan defend itself" against Chinese aggression."

• "As a loyal friend of America, Taiwan has merited our strong support, including free trade agreement status, the timely sale of defensive arms… and full participation in the World Health Organization… and other multilateral institutions."

Protecting American Taxpayers

Allowing Americans to keep the fruits of their labor is fundamental to our pursuit of happiness.

As conservatives, we know that the power to tax was not established in the Constitution as a

resource to fund a perpetually expanding federal government; the federal government should

not seek to tax beyond what is necessary to fund the defense of this country and fulfill its

obligations to the people under the law. That simple truth defines the fight over the next year

to make the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) permanent and reject calls to further raise taxes.

The expiration of the Trump-Pence tax cuts, which President Biden is calling for, would

hamstring an already limping American economy strangled by overregulation from Washington

and bring about a return to the failed tax policies of yesteryear that hollowed out America’s

heartland and sent millions of American jobs overseas.

Despite constant doom-and-gloom prognostications, 2017’s tax cuts have been a roaring

success for the American people. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act created instant income growth

for hardworking Americans, generated millions of new jobs, and brought back billions of dollars

to the United States. Household incomes saw real gains before Bidenomics took effect, and

federal tax revenue has never been higher.

As conservatives, we understand that lower tax rates mean more economic growth. But we

also understand that economics is not just about charts in textbooks: lower tax rates keep

money in the pockets of hardworking Americans, and ensuring people keep as much of their

hard-earned money as possible should be a constant goal of conservatives. Lower tax rates

help small business owners thrive, expand, and hire more employees as business takes off. It

means an economy where jobs stay in the U.S. rather than go to China or Mexico.

Ultimately, Washington’s “spend, spend, spend” mentality – not the desire to let people keep

what they earn – is the main driver of the national debt and deficit.

Advancing American Freedom will defend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and reject President

Biden’s tax increases. We will be urging conservative leaders to join us in this fight, champion

American families that have benefited from this legislation, and put an end to Biden’s plans to

hike taxes.

In order to protect Americans families, workers, and small businesses from looming tax

increases, we have created a road map for conservatives facing the expiration of the Tax Cuts

and Jobs Act. Our vision is based on four essential principles.

1. Washington must prevent looming tax hikes on American workers and small businesses.

2. To beat China, the U.S. must maintain a low business tax rate.

3. Tax policy should not be made based on faulty math and inaccurate estimates.

4. Washington cannot tax America out of our spending-driven debt crisis.

5. To balance our budget, Washington must stop spending beyond its means.

AAF: Biden's Border Disaster

Biden's Border Crisis: Over 7.8 million illegal aliens crossed our border since Biden took office - this is greater than the populations of 38 U.S. states. o Last Month (April): 179,725 illegal aliens were encountered (nearly 6,000 a day).

• Obama's DHS Secretary said 1,000 was a "bad day" and "overwhelms the system." o In Fiscal Year 2024 alone, there have been more than 1.5 million encounters so far.

Catch & Release: The Biden Admin has released 4.6 million illegal aliens since 2021. o Secretary Mayorkas said DHS is RELEASING OVER 85% of illegal aliens it catches. o The Administration acknowledged releasing more than 5,000 migrants every day! o These migrants are released to NGOs who provide "services" for these migrants.

Gotaways: A gotaway is someone who is "directly or indirectly observed making an unlawful entry into the United States" and is "not apprehended" (6 USC § 223).

• From FY21 to FY23, there have been over 1.6M gotaways at our borders.

• That's more in Biden's four years than the 12 previous years combined (1.4M).

National Security: Nearly 80,000 Russian nationals and over 50,000 Chinese nationals have illegally entered our country under Biden's watch.

• Vladimir Putin has weaponized border crossings in other countries.

• In the San Diego Sector, there are more illegal aliens from China than Mexico.

• Many illegal immigrants get step-by-step instructions from TikTok to find an entry.

Fentanyl killed more than 2,500 people in Texas in the previous year.

• On average, five Texans died every day from fentanyl poisoning.

• Fentanyl deaths in Texas have more than doubled since 2020.

• Every state is a border state: fentanyl kills over 200 Americans daily.

• Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45.

• The Chinese Communist Party directly subsidizes the manufacturing and export of illicit fentanyl materials," according to a report from the Select Committee on the CCP.

Taxpayer-Funded NGOs Facilitate Illegal Immigration: The Free Press revealed that open-borders NGOs are receiving billions to assist illegal aliens relocating within the United States.

The Coming Surge: According to reports from the Panamanian government, hundreds of thousands of more illegal aliens are bound for the United States, crossing via the Darrien Gap: o February Crossings: 330,680

Ronald Reagan once warned, “Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation.” To that I would only add: It must also be fought for and defended every four years at the Republican convention.
