Over 150 pages of transcripts related to a 2006 grand jury investigation into allegations against Jeffrey Epstein were released to the public Monday afternoon.

Circuit Judge Luis Delgado of the 15th Judicial Court of Florida ordered the release of the documents—which have been kept sealed for nearly two decades—after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill in February allowing the transcripts to be released on July 1 or afterward.

Epstein, a millionaire and financier who in 2019 was charged with sex trafficking minors in Florida and New York, died at age 66 while in a New York City jail cell awaiting trial. Federal authorities said that the well-known socialite died by suicide.

The documents released on Monday pertain to an investigation into sex trafficking and rape allegations made against Epstein in 2006 in South Florida. The defendant's attorneys cut a deal with federal prosecutors in 2008 that allowed Epstein to plead guilty to state charges of procuring a person under 18 for prostitution and solicitation of prostitution, helping him evade more severe federal charges.

At the time, Epstein, who once had an estimated net worth of nearly $600 million, was sentenced to 18 months, and the plea deal was criticized as being too lenient. Palm Beach County Clerk Joseph Abruzzo said in a statement that releasing the grand jury documents helps "ensure transparency to the people of Palm Beach County that we serve every day, and to the international community that has closely followed the Epstein case."

"It is our hope that the release of these records gives peace of mind to our community and gives Jeffrey Epstein's victims the closure they deserve," Abruzzo added.

What's in the Documents

The road to unseal the grand jury documents began in 2019, when The Palm Beach Post motioned to have the information released. Under Florida Statute 905.27, however, the court was not authorized to disclose the materials, according to Delgado's order.

Abruzzo's office later fought for an amendment to the state law that would allow the documents to be released. That bill, HB 117, was signed by DeSantis in February. As Delgado wrote, the bill "significantly modified the definition of 'furthering justice' to expressly include furthering a public interest." The Post moved for reconsideration of its original request last month once the amendment took effect on July 1.

"The Court finds that the request involves a matter of public interest," read Monday's order. "The criminal prosecution of the most infamous pedophile in American history began in Palm Beach County – with much controversy.

"For almost 20 years, the story of how Jeffrey Epstein victimized some of Palm Beach County's most vulnerable has been the subject of much anger and has at times diminished the public's perception of the criminal justice system," Delgado added.

The judge wrote that the testimony included in the court documents "concerns activity ranging from grossly unacceptable to rape – all of the conduct at issue is sexually deviant, disgusting, and criminal. The details in the record will be outrageous to decent people"

The documents also reveal that Epstein "used children to find more victims," according to the order by Delgado, who wrote that "some of the children knew the type of people they could be exposed to and the infamous nature of such 'notable' people."

Where Epstein's Case Stands

Several rounds of documents have been released since Epstein's death that relate to the sexual abuse accusations. In January, hundreds of pages were unsealed in a now-settled case brought by Virginia Giuffre, who in 2015 sued Ghislaine Maxwell, accusing Maxwell of luring her away at age 17 to work as a "masseuse" for Epstein. Giuffre alleged that she was sexually abused by Epstein and several other men in his social circle.

As the Associated Press (AP) reports, several thousands of documents related to Giuffre's lawsuit have been released since 2019. Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend and house manager, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 after being found guilty of sex trafficking, conspiracy and transportation of a minor for illegal sexual activity.

Several well-known people, including former President Donald Trump and Victoria's Secret founder Leslie Wexner, have been mentioned in the documents, although being named does not necessarily mean the individuals are accused of wrongdoing.

Accusations have been leveled against Prince Andrew, who Giuffre alleges had sex with her multiple times when she was 17 years old. A lawsuit was settled between Andrew and Giuffre in 2022 without going to trial, and the British royal denies ever meeting her.

Transcript: Biden addresses Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity

>>21123451

Mr. Biden: No one is above the law, not even the president of the United States. But today;s Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity, that fundamentally changed. For all practical purposes, today's decision almost certainly means that there are virtually no limits on what a president can do…it's a dangerous precedent.

>>21123475

Mr. Biden: Nearly four years ago, my predecessor sent a violent mob to the US Capital to stop the peaceful transfer of power…one of the darkest days in the history of America. Now the man who sent that mob to the US Capital is facing potential criminal conviction for what happened http://that.day. The American people deserve to have an answer in the courts before the upcoming election…now, because of today's decision, that is highly, highly unlikely.

>>21123493

Mr. Biden:The American people must decide whether Donald Trump's assault of our democracy on January 6th makes him unfit for public office in the highest office in the land. The American people must decide if Trump's embrace of violence, to preserve his power, is acceptable.

>>21123503

Mr. Biden: I know I will respect the limits of presidential power as I have for three and a half years, but any president, including Donald Trump, will now be free to ignore the law.

TRANSCRIPT

0:28 good evening

0:31 the presidency is the most powerful

0:33 office in the world it's an office that

0:35 not only tests your

0:37 judgment perhaps even more importantly

0:40 it's an office that tests your character

0:43 because you not only face moments when

0:44 you need to courage exercise the full

0:47 power of the presidency you also face

0:49 moments where you need the wisdom to

0:51 respect the limits of the power of the

0:54 office of the

0:55 presidency this nation was founded on

0:57 the principle that there are no Kings in

0:59 America America each each of us is equal

1:02 before the law no one no one is above

1:06 the law not even the president of United

1:10 States today's Supreme Court decision on

1:13 presidential immunity that fundamentally

1:16 changed for all for all practical

1:19 purposes today's decision almost

1:21 certainly means that there are virtually

1:23 no limits what the president can do this

1:27 is a fundamentally new principle and

1:29 it's it's a dangerous precedent because

1:32 the power of the office will no longer

1:33 be constrained by the law even including

1:36 the Supreme Court of the United

1:38 States the only limits will be

1:40 self-imposed by the president

1:42 alone this decision today has continued

1:46 the Court's attack in recent years on a

1:48 wide range of long established legal

1:50 principles in our nation from gutting

1:53 voting rights and civil rights to taking

1:55 away a woman's right to

1:57 choose to today's decision that

2:00 undermines the rule of law of this

2:03 nation nearly four years ago my

2:06 predecessor sent a violent mob to the US

2:09 capital to stop the peaceful transfer of

2:12 power we all saw it with our own eyes we

2:15 sat there and watch it happened that day

2:18 attack on the

2:19 police the ransacking of the Capitol a

2:23 mob literally hunting down the house

2:25 Speaker Nancy Pelosi Gallows erected to

2:29 hang the vice president Mike

2:31 Pence I think it's fair to say it's one

2:33 of the darkest days in the history of

2:36 America now the man who sent that mob to

2:38 the US capital is facing potential

2:41 criminal conviction what happened that

2:43 day and the American people deserve to

2:46 have an answer in the courts before the

2:48 upcoming election the public has a right

2:51 to know the answer about what happened

2:53 January 6th before they asked to vote

2:56 again this year now because of today

3:00 decision that is highly highly

3:03 unlikely it's a terrible disservice to

3:05 the people of this nation so now now the

3:09 American people will have to do what the

3:10 court should have been willing to do but

3:12 will not the American people have to

3:14 render a judgment about Donald Trump's

3:17 Behavior the American people must decide

3:19 whether Donald Trump's assault on our

3:21 democracy on January 6th makes some

3:24 unfit for public office in the highest

3:26 office in the land the American people

3:28 must decide if Trump's Embrace of

3:30 violence to preserve his power is

3:34 acceptable perhaps most importantly

3:37 American people must decide they want to

3:40 entrust the president once again the

3:43 presidency to Donald Trump now knowing

3:46 he'll be even more embolden to do

3:48 whatever he pleases whenever he wants to

3:49 do

3:51 it you

3:53 know at the outset of our nation it was

3:56 the character of George Washington our

3:58 first president def find the president

4:01 he believed power was limited not

4:03 absolute and that power always resides

4:06 with the people

4:08 always now over 200 years later today's

4:11 Supreme Court decision once again it

4:14 will depend on the character of the men

4:16 and women who hold that presidency that

4:18 are going to define the limits of the

4:20 power of the presidency because the law

4:23 will no longer do

4:25 it I know I will respect the limits of

4:27 the presidential Powers I have for three

4:29 and and a half years but any president

4:32 including Donald Trump will now be free

4:34 to ignore the

4:37 law I concur with Justice Sodom Myer's

4:39 descent today she here's what she said

4:42 she said in every use of official power

4:45 the president is now a king Above the

4:48 Law with fear for our democracy I desent

4:53 end of

4:54 quote so should the American people

4:57 descent I descent

5:00 may God bless you all may God help

5:03 preserve our democracy thank you may God

5:05 protect our

5:07 children demat why are you the best

5:10 Democrat to be Trump what makes you so

5:13 confident you should be the president

5:29 okay
