Arthur Brooks on Storytelling

Arthur Brooks talks to our own Jeb Morris about the importance of storytelling and how it connects people together.

People connect over stories, we're wired to connect and bond with each other and people don't bond over facts and figures. Connect over stories and use data to back it up.

Democrats hope Gavin Newsom can replace Biden

- but do they know about the sleazy California Governor's infidelities, addiction, TEENAGE lover… and why allies say he 'doesn't have real friends'?

Sprawled languidly on an ornate silk rug in the palatial home of oil-heiress Ann Getty for a 2004 magazine shoot, San Francisco's new Mayor and his glamorous wife looked entirely deserving of the Harper's Bazaar headline: 'The New Kennedys'.

Clearly, the couple thought the glossy fashion mag's Camelot comparison fitting, too.

'Do I think he could be President?' San Francisco's First Lady wondered aloud. 'Absolutely, I'd gladly vote for him.'

Whether she still might two decades later seems distinctly unlikely even if the question is, ironically, suddenly more relevant than ever.

For she is Kimberly Guilfoyle, now fiancée of Donald Trump Jr and a MAGA campaign stalwart. And he is Gavin Newsom, now the uber-progressive Governor of California and looking all the more likely to be the man who may yet run against Trump in this year's presidential election.

For while Newsom publicly insists he is nothing more than an articulate surrogate for Joe Biden – readily telling reporters in Atlanta after the president's disastrous debate performance on Thursday night that, 'I will never turn my back on [him]' – his private ambitions are no secret. …

Inside California's most Republican town where locals recoil at thought of Newsom presidency as they launch bid to oust the governor for a SECOND time

It's just days after the first presidential debate, but outside Safeway in the Trumpiest town in deep blue California, nobody is discussing President Biden's bumbling performance – or even that of President Trump who won by a landslide here in both 2016 and 2020.

Instead, the talk in Susanville is all of one man: Golden State Governor Gavin Newsom.

And as he positions himself to take over the Democratic presidential nomination should the 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief bow to pressure to step down, that talk is getting more and more panicky.

Newsom, 56, was front and center after the debate in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday night – presenting himself as a vigorous alternative to the ageing Biden while simultaneously denying any plans to run.

Here, in northeastern California, 4,100 ft up in the Sierra Nevadas, in the county seat of state's reddest county, the prospect of a Newsom presidency is regarded with utter horror. …

Tennessee Woman, Fired for Refusing BlueCross BlueShield’s COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate, Wins $687K

A Tennessee woman has won a nearly $700,000 settlement after she was fired for refusing to take the Chinese coronavirus vaccine, which her employer mandated.

A federal jury determined that Tanja Benton, who previously worked for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST), be awarded the money, Fox 17 reported Monday.

The jury found that her choice not to take the vaccine “was based on a sincerely held religious belief.”

She worked as a biostatistical research scientist for the company for several years and did not regularly come into contact with clients. Due to the pandemic, Benton was working at home, and there were no complaints about her job performance.

However, when the company announced it was forcing its employees to take the vaccine, she chose not to do so and told its leadership she believed the vaccine was derived from aborted fetus cell lines. Her lawsuit noted that she could not take the shot because she believed it would “not only defile her body but also anger and dishonor God.”

Per the Fox 17 report, Benton asked for a religious exemption but was denied and ultimately fired. However, she fought back by filing a federal lawsuit.

“As part of its verdict, the federal jury awarded Benton $177,240 in back pay, $10,000 in compensatory damages, and $500,000 in punitive damages, for a total of $687,240,” the Fox 17 report said.

According to Local 3 News, “A group of employees terminated by BCBST over a Title VII violation regarding religious discrimination are also currently in a class action suit against the employer,” the outlet said Monday.

The company fired 41 customer service workers in 2021 due to the vaccine mandate, the article said, noting it denied their religious exemptions and would not allow them to work from home.

“The mass layoffs came weeks ahead of a Tennessee law that would prevent the company from carrying out the mandate,” it added.

When BCBST fired the workers in 2021, WDEF reported that a group called Tennessee Neighbors for Liberty hosted a rally to support the people who lost their jobs over the vaccine mandate.

“These are my friends. These are family members. These people will not have the money to take care of their families, and so, the only thing I know to do is to act. We’re doing more than just rallying; we are calling in our elected officials,” said the group’s director, Glenda Pappu:

In August 2022, Breitbart News reported that healthcare workers at Illinois’s NorthShore University Health System were expected to receive more than $10 million in a “first-of-its-kind” settlement regarding the system’s coronavirus vaccine mandate.

“The 13 lead plaintiffs are expected to receive an additional $20,000 each for leading the class action lawsuit against NorthShore,” the article said.

Bette Midler Attacks Supreme Court in ‘Wizard of Oz’ Parody Song: ‘You’re Scared of Our Vaginas’

Singer-actress Bette Midler, star of Disney’s Hocus Pocus 2, has released a Wizard of Oz parody song that attacks the Supreme Court, singling out conservative justices for ridicule by claiming “you’re scared of our vaginas.”

Bette Midler’s song is part of the left’s ongoing effort to discredit and delegitimize the Supreme Court over decisions Democrats don’t like, including the reversal of Roe v. Wade and this week’s decision on presidential immunity regarding former President Donald Trump.

In the song, which Midler posted Tuesday to social media, she repeatedly attacks Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch — at one point, calling them “entitled wealthy men.”

Bette Midler has nothing but praise for the high court’s leftist female justices — Sonia Sotomayor, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Elena Kagan.

Midler also used the song to promote Vote Blue — the Democrats’ voter registration initiative.

Democrats have grown exponentially hostile to the Supreme Court in recent years as the conservative majority has issued decisions that clash with the radical left’s political agenda. As a result, the left has sought to intimidate and even impeach the justices they don’t like, all the while pushing for packing the court by expanding the bench to 13 justices.

On Monday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) vowed to file articles of impeachment against at least one justice in response to the court’s decision on presidential immunity.
