I saw a clip where a GOP house candidate who was a lawyer said that he is not officially convicted until he is officially sentenced and based on SCOTUS decision, sentencing in likely not going to happen. The jury deliberated and delivered a guilty verdict. The judge at the sentencing hearing renders the verdict and then sentences the convicted. It’s not until the verdict is rendered and the judge sentences that the convicted becomes a Felon. My understanding anyway.
