Seemingly by the hour, Joe Biden's quest for a second term swirls farther down the drain as more Democrat lawmakers call for the dazed and confused president to drop out of the race.
Now, a fifth House Democrat has called for Biden to drop out, and her statement explaining why is the best I've yet read. Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig said in a statement on X:
As an elected leader, I feel a responsibility to be honest about what I believe, even when it’s hard to hear. President Biden is a good man & I appreciate his lifetime of service. But I believe he should step aside for the next generation of leadership. The stakes are too high.

While I don't know Angie Craig from Adam — make that, Eve — it's my sense that her extended statement, while partisan, of course, went beyond other statements we've seen that were clearly written for the sole purpose of saving the author's political hide — and issuing histrionic warns about a second Trump presidency.
I have great respect for President Biden's decades of service to our nation and his steadfast commitment to making our country a better place. I've worked with the President and members of both parties to pass critical legislation … and I was proud to have the President sign my law — capping the cost of insulin at $35/month for seniors, expanding mental health support for police officers and their families, and investing more resources to tackle the fentanyl crisis at the southern border.
I was with her, to an extent, until the last line. Then, she got back on track.
However, given what I saw and heard from the President during last week's debate in Atlanta, coupled with the lack of a forceful response from the President himself following the debate, I do not believe that the President can campaign and win against Donald Trump.
This is not a decision I’ve come to lightly, but there is simply too much at stake to risk a second Donald Trump presidency. That’s why I respectfully call on President Biden to step aside as the Democratic nominee for a second term as President and allow for a new generation of leaders to step forward.
Craig suggested the Democrat Party is bursting with "an extraordinary number of talented leaders," which I've somehow missed seeing, and that she believes now is the time to "put forward an open, fair, and transparent Democratic process to select a new nominee to inspire and unite our great nation."

Look, while any nominee other than Biden or Harris would likely "inspire and unite" the Democrat Party, it's beyond delusional to believe that any candidate in today's Democrat Party could inspire and unite this greatly divided country.
Craig ended her statement with the requisite shot at Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, yet with a reality the Democrat Party faces, as well.
If we truly believe that Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans must be stopped, there is only a small window left to make sure we have a candidate best equipped to make the case and win. The future of country is bigger than any one of us. It's up to the President from here.
Yes, it's up to Biden from here. While improbable, let's hope he stays the course.
Yes, Rep. Angie Craig is partisan, as are all politicians. But she was reasonable in contrast with other Democrats and their hyperbolic nonsense about the evils of Donald Trump and the horrors of what he'd do to America if he wins a second term.

Parkinson's Specialist Met With White House At Least 9 Times Since July 2023
A Parkinson's disease specialist from Walter Reed Medical Center visited the White House at least nine times in the past year, according to journalist Alex Berenson of Unreported Truths, while the NY Post has reported that a cardiologist was present during one of the visits.
Dr. Kevin R Cannard traveled to the White House's medical clinic each time, meeting with either President Joe Biden's personal physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor, or a naval nurse who coordinates care for the president and other senior officials. O'Connor notably gave Biden a clean bill of health after his February annual physical.The visits spanned July 28, 2023 with the latest being March 28 of this year. That said, Berenson notes that the most recent logs are from April 1, so it's unknown if Cannard has visited more recently.
According to Cannard's physician profile page, he is a "neurologist and movement disorders specialist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center" who specializes in treatments for "early Parkinson's disease." Since 2012, he has served as the "neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Unit," per his LinkedIn page.
His most recent paper was published in August 2023 in the journal Parkinsonism & Related Disorders, and focuses on the “early-stage” of the crippling disease.
Since Biden’s health is O’Connor’s primary responsibility, it is highly probable the meeting was about the commander in chief, according to Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Tx), the doctor for both Presidents Obama and Trump.
“It’s highly likely they were talking about Biden,” Jackson told The Post. -NY Post
"He should only be [regularly] treating the president and the first family," Jackson continued.
Walter Reed cardiologist Dr. John. E. Atwood was also present during a Jan. 17 meeting, the NY Post reports.
According to Jackson, who has never treated Biden, O'Connor and Biden's family are trying to "cover up" Biden's declining cognitive health.

The outlet reported that two sources familiar with the meeting said that the meeting will touch on Biden as a topic of concern among others on Sunday afternoon. One of the sources expressed "certainty" that Biden will be discussed as "part of a wider discussion of topics."
House Democrats informed reporters that Jeffries, while he has publicly supported Biden, has been careful not to stifle growing concerns that many see as the incumbent president has dropped in the polls since a catastrophic debate performance last week. The House minority leader has avoided taking a firm stance on the matter in private talks with other Democrats.
Democrats who have publicly called for Biden to drop out of the race include Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), Seth Moulton (D-MA), Mike Quigley (D-IL), and Angie Craig (D-MN), per the outlet.
Biden has vowed that he will be staying in the race despite calls from Democrats as well as liberal pundits for him to drop out before the Democratic National Convention. In a WSJ poll after the debate, Trump led Biden by six points nationally in the 2024 presidential race. Trump has also pulled ahead in some polls in states not on the radar for Trump prior to the debate such as New Jersey and New Hampshire.

House Democrats are “Bringing Out the Big Guns” to Allow Illegal Aliens to Vote in 2024 Presidential Election
Axios has reported that the House Democrat leadership is rallying its forces against a Republican bill due for a vote next week.
The bill in question, the Safeguard AmericanVoter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), seeks to mandate proof of U.S. citizenship for voting in federal elections.

The SAVE Act is scheduled for a vote next week and if passed, will require “documentary proof of United States citizenship” for voting in federal elections.
Mike Johnson summarized the key features of the SAVE Act:
It requires state election officials to ask about citizenship before providing voter registration forms.
It mandates an individual to provide proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
It allows state officials to accept a wide variety of documents that will make it easy for citizens to register to vote in federal elections.
It provides states with access to federal agency databases so they can remove noncitizens from voter rolls and confirm citizenship for individuals lacking proof of citizenship.
It directs DHS to determine whether to conduct removal proceedings if a noncitizen has been identified as having registered to vote in federal elections.
It requires DHS to notify a state chief election official whenever an individual has been naturalized.
The SAVE Act will safeguard our elections by ensuring only American citizens vote in federal elections.

Axios reported that House Minority Whip Katherine Clark’s (D-Mass.) office has urged House Democrats to “VOTE NO” on the bill. Clark’s office warned that the bill would “prevent Americans from registering to vote with their driver’s license alone” and would make a passport the “only acceptable standalone form of identification.”
They added that the bill would create an “extreme burden for countless Americans” and “further intimidate election officials and overburden states’ abilities to enroll new voters.”
