'Veiled Threat' - Saudis Warned G-7 Against Russian Asset Seizure Plan

In a fascinating geopolitical shift, Bloomberg reports that, according to people familiar with the matter, that Saudi Arabia privately hinted earlier this year it might sell some European debt holdings if the G-7 decided to seize almost $300 billion of Russia's frozen assets.

As a reminder, we noted in May the European Union approved a US-backed plan to use seized Russian assets to generate profits which will in turn help arm Ukraine.

Associated Press reports that "The 27-nation EU is holding around 210 billion euros ($225 billion) in Russian central bank assets, most of it frozen in Belgium, in retaliation for Moscow’s war against Ukraine. It estimates that the interest on that money could provide around 3 billion euros ($3.3 billion) each year." A first tranche of funds could be available as early as July.

Starting in February, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen began getting more vocal on the "moral case" for using Russian assets to aid Ukraine, telling allies they must find a way to "unlock the value" of the hundreds of billions in immobilized Russian assets, also with an eye towards Ukraine's post-war reconstruction.

Previously some Ukrainian officials floated the idea of "reparation bonds" backed by future claims for war damages against Moscow, and utilizing frozen Russian assets. These initiatives have gained steam under US leadership.

Most of the $300 billion in frozen Russian assets are held in Europe - particularly France, Germany, and Belgium.

Which makes today's report from Bloomberg even more interesting from a geopolitical fissures perspective.

The Kingdom’s finance ministry told some G-7 counterparts of its opposition to the idea, which was meant to support Ukraine, with one person describing it as a veiled threat.

The Saudis specifically mentioned debt issued by the French treasury, two of the people said.

Chuck Schumer Announces Scheme to Strip President Trump of Court-Granted Immunity and Send Him to Jail

A historic Supreme Court ruling is not stopping Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) from trying to imprison President Trump.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Supreme Court last week ruled 6-3 along ideological lines in favor of Trump, asserting that presidents are immune from criminal liability involving official acts during their tenure.

The case Trump v. United States arose from narcissistic Special Counsel Jack Smith’s corrupt indictment against Trump, who is falsely accusing the 45th President of conspiring to throw out the 2020 presidential election results.

The garbage charges Smith has levied include spreading “claims” of election fraud and “attempting to obstruct the certification of the election results.”

Schumer took to the Senate floor Monday to whine about the ruling. According to the Hill, he declared the Court was wrong to grant Trump “a breathtaking level of immunity.”

“They incorrectly declared that former President Trump enjoys broad immunity from criminal prosecution for actions he took while in office. They incorrectly declared that all future presidents are entitled to a breathtaking level of immunity so long as their conduct is ostensibly carried out in their official capacity as president,” Schumer complained.

Schumer went on to say the court majority had “effectively placed a crown on Donald Trump’s head,” “putting him above the law” and making him “in many ways untouchable.”

Schumer then announced he had something to ensure that Trump could still be prosecuted effectively despite the Court ruling. He said he would be working with his fellow Democrats to classify Trump’s acts after the 2020 election as unofficial ones not subject to immunity, thereby removing court-granted immunity.

If implemented into law, this would be a huge lifeline for the Biden regime as it tries to remove the presidential frontrunner from the field.

Since purchasing the house in 2018 with grand plans to renovate and raise a family, Bach has called police 37 times, according to police records reviewed by the newspaper. Six calls were for an area check, another six for disturbances as well as domestic violence and criminal trespassing incidents.

I suppose that they could sell the house at a loss and move some place where the homeless have not taken over yet.

But the problem is that the homeless encampments keep on spreading to new areas.

Meanwhile, the violence in our major cities just continues to escalate.

Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, a total of 109 people were shot in the city of Chicago…

One hundred and nine people have been shot, 19 fatally, in gun violence across Chicago since Wednesday during the extended Fourth of July holiday weekend, police said.

Superintendent Larry Snelling and Mayor Brandon Johnson both called for accountability for those responsible for the shootings.

Johnson was pressed to address what adjustments need to be made to keep the community safe, his response was simply getting more support.

In a civilized society, when you are attacked you call the police and they come and help you.

Russia’s UN ambassador responds to Ukraine hospital attack accusations

If a Russian missile actually struck the clinic, there would be nothing but rubble left, Vasily Nebenzia has told the UN Security Council

In an address to the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Dr. Vladimir Zhovnir, the director of Kiev’s Okhmatdyt children’s hospital, accused Russia of deliberately striking the facility on Monday. Two people died and scores were injured in the blast, Zhovnir claimed, calling the incident “not just a war crime, [but] far beyond the limit of humanity.”

“Does Mr. Zhovnir understand that if it was a Russian missile, there would be nothing left of the building?” Nebenzia responded. “Children and adults would have died rather than been injured.”

Nebenzia explained that Russian forces targeted the Artemov missile plant in Kiev on Monday, and that “this target was hit.”

“Since the plant is located approximately 2km from the children’s hospital, there is every reason to believe that the Ukrainian air defense missile that hit it was intended for a Russian missile that hit the plant,” he stated, adding that “this tragedy could have been avoided if the Ukrainian Armed Forces had not deployed air defense in residential areas.”

The Russian Defense Ministry has also explicitly denied striking the hospital. In an official statement on Monday, the ministry said that “photos and video footage from Kiev clearly confirm” that the building was hit by a falling “Ukrainian air defense missile launched from an anti-aircraft missile system within the city.”

The strike on the Artemov plant was part of a large-scale attack on Ukrainian military industry facilities and aviation bases conducted on Monday. The ministry said that the attack had been ordered in response to Ukraine’s continued attempts to damage Russian energy and economic infrastructure.

Israel slams Gaza ‘starvation’ report

Human rights experts have alleged a “targeted campaign” of starving the Palestinians

Israel has rejected the allegations by a group of independent UN human rights experts that it has targeted the Palestinians in Gaza for starvation.

According to the expert group, 34 Palestinians in Gaza have died of malnutrition since October 7, most of them children. They accused Israel of carrying out a “targeted starvation campaign” against the enclave.

The Israeli mission to the UN in Geneva denounced the report on Tuesday, saying that its authors “are as much accustomed to spreading misinformation as they are to supporting Hamas propaganda and shielding the terrorist organization from scrutiny.”

West Jerusalem’s representatives pointed to last week’s report by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, which said that the famine predicted in March had not materialized. The mission claimed that Israel has helped deliver humanitarian aid to the enclave, while members of Hamas “intentionally steal and hide aid from civilians.”

The expert group, led by special rapporteur on the right to food Michael Fakhri, has argued that the situation in Gaza de facto amounts to a famine, even though the UN has not formally classified it as such.

“Israel’s intentional and targeted starvation campaign against the Palestinian people is a form of genocidal violence and has resulted in famine across all of Gaza,” the experts said in a statement. They called on the UN to prioritize the delivery of humanitarian aid “by any means necessary,” as well as “end Israel’s siege, and establish a ceasefire.”

“Inaction is complicity,” the group said.

Israel set up a blockade of Gaza nine months ago, following the deadly October 7 raid by Hamas that resulted in the deaths of some 1,200 people, while 250 or so were taken captive. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to fight until Hamas is “completely eradicated,” rejecting any possibility of peace with the Palestinian militants.

A weeklong truce in November resulted in the freeing of 105 hostages from Gaza and 240 Palestinian prisoners. Talks mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the US have failed to secure a new ceasefire.

As of Tuesday, at least 38,243 Palestinans have been killed and 88,033 wounded in the course of the conflict, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. A recently published study in the medical journal Lancet has suggested the death toll could be as high as 186,000 after factoring in “indirect deaths” from hunger, thirst, disease, and exposure.

Flowers reportedly pointed a handgun at the marshal in an effort to steal the vehicle. The marshal fired multiple shots at Flowers, and another marshal in a different vehicle also opened fire.Flowers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He has since been arrested and charged with armed carjacking, carrying a pistol without a license, and possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device. Portland Power Company Takes Control of Home Thermostats to Avoid Outages

Some 200,000 people in the Portland, Oregon, area have handed control of their home thermostats over to an energy company.

What is there to say about a population willing to hand over control of its thermostats to an energy company instead of demanding its government provide enough energy to keep it comfortable?

These people are gerbils.

I’m sure that in their own deluded minds, they have convinced themselves they are noble and virtuous by making this sacrifice for the good of Mother Earth, but that’s simply not true. Mother Earth is fine and will remain fine even if Democrats decide to exit the Dark Ages and join the Age of Enlightenment where there’s more than enough energy for everything and everyone.

“If you’re a Portlander with air conditioning who is used to keeping your thermostat low through the summer months, you may be in for a surprise Monday evening,” reports Portland’s local CBS station.

“Portland General Electric [PGE] will soon begin adjusting home temperatures for those enrolled in the Smart Thermostat program,” adds the report. “This means the electric company has the ability to take over your regular settings during peak energy hours.”

And when is that “peak” time? Between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. when everyone’s home, looking to relax after a hard day.

“Your thermostat will pre-cool your home during the hour before the event starts, when energy demand is lower,” per PGE, “and then it will adjust 1 to 3 degrees during the Peak Time Event, to reduce strain on the grid when energy demand is high.”

You can override these settings, but it might cost you whatever credits this program puts on your power bill.

If you can believe it, 200,000 PGE gerbils enrolled in these programs.

Let’s begin with the fact that the human body is quite sensitive to temperature changes, and one to three degrees can be the difference between comfortable and uncomfortable.

Then there’s the ludicrous notion of giving an energy corporation (or any corporation) access and control over your thermostat. Are these people nuts?

What I always return to, though, is the insanity of a wealthy, twenty-first-century country, swimming in natural resources, being unwilling — not unable but unwilling — to provide its citizens with enough energy to remain comfortable in their own homes.

This anti-science war on energy is nothing less than wanting — for no practical reason — to take us back to the Dark Ages, when we relied on medieval sources of energy, like the sun.

And who do these superstitious enviro-nuts believe…? A bunch of witches who have been wrong 54 times out of 54 times.

Germany: Nigerian migrant grabs 9-year-old boy and stabs 2 police officers, immediately released by the courts

Following a growing wave of stabbing attacks across Germany perpetrated by migrants, a Nigerian migrant has added to the growing toll of victims, this time stabbing three officers in 16 hours in the city of Karlsruhe.

The 36-year-old Nigerian is still at large after three different attacks, targeting various officers in the span of 18 hours. Despite the serious crimes, the man is still at large.

On Friday, at 12:45 p.m., the man grabbed a 9-year-old boy at the main station in Karlsruhe in the state of Baden-Würtemberg, located in the southwest of Germany. Police intervened to save the boy, and the African man bit one of the officers, while three police suffered abrasions during the scuffle.

Armstrong: Elon Musk Partners with World Economic Forum

I like Elon Musk for his innovative mind and willingness to speak out against the establishment. Is he part of the controlled opposition? I did not believe it to be true until his recent dealing with the World Economic Forum. Musk himself deemed the ESG policies of the WEF to be “satanic” only one year ago, but now, he has appointed a WEF board member to act as CEO of X.

X (formerly Twitter) is now part of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM). The World Economic Forum states on its website that GARM will help the 3.8 BILLION internet users to sort through real vs fake news through censorship, taking on the role of judge and juror. “Together, [GARM] is collaborating with publishers and platforms to go more to address harmful and misleading media environments; and to develop and deliver against a concrete set of actions, processes and protocols for protecting brands,” the website notes.

Is this purely business? Ad revenue on X has decreased by half since Elon’s acquisition. X has been accused of allowing hate speech on disinformation to reach its 250 million daily active users. Its userbase has not increased in a meaningful way since Elon’s takeover in November 2022, far undermining Musk’s goal of 600 million daily active users by 2025.

'186,000 Gazans dead’: Lancet magazine

The Lancet magazine, an esteemed medical journal founded in 1823, published a piece earlier this week authored by doctors Rasha Khatib, Martin McKee and Salim Yusuf, which claimed that “it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186,000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza.”

Though the short piece was designated as a “correspondence” or a letter to the editor rather than a peer-reviewed academic article, and though the piece referred to alleged future accumulative death rates rather than current ones, the platform provided by the respected magazine gave it a reliable atmosphere. This led anti-Israel users on social media to propagate the new libel en masse, conveniently forgetting to mention the nature of the letter.

Such was UN rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who presents herself as an expert in law, quoted the piece, claiming in a tweet that “If one includes both direct & indirect deaths from Israel's assault, the death toll in Gaza goes up to 186,000 people, according to the medical journal The Lancet. That's 1 in every 12 Gaza inhabitants killed in the last 9 months of genocide.”

Rubio Reveals U.S. Taxpayers Funding Chinese Military Experiments, Will Introduce Bill To Fight It

Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, who serves as the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee and a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, disclosed on Sunday that American taxpayers are “funding thousands of Chinese experiments with direct applications to the Chinese military.”

Writing in The National Interest, Rubio, one of the Republicans at the forefront of confronting Communist China along with Arkansas GOP Sen. Tom Cotton, mentioned a report that the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) had given $30 million in artificial intelligence research grants to a Chinese scientist at the Beijing Institute of Technology. Rubio pointed out that the Beijing Institute of Technology works to create next-generation weapons for the Communist Chinese Army.

But then Rubio submitted new evidence: The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) found that U.S. taxpayers funded the aforementioned experiments. “Their findings note more than 5,000 instances of research collaboration between the DoD’s funding agencies and Chinese entities between 2019 and 2024,” he wrote.

He continued:

NCIS specifically records eighty-one collaborations with China’s nuclear weapon research and development complex, hundreds of collaborations with the “Seven Sons of National Defense” and the “Seven Sons of Ordnance Industry”—China’s premier defense industry-affiliated universities—and seventeen collaborations with China’s National University of Defense Technology—the People’s Liberation Army’s premier scientific research institute.

The experiments “have focused on facial recognition, stealth technology, underwater acoustics, explosives, semiconductors, cryptography, cybersecurity, and data mining,” Rubio asserted, adding, “Such research, facilitated by our own government, may have already given Beijing an edge in key areas of twenty-first-century warfare. … China now has nearly unfettered access to America’s fundamental research due to a lack of prohibitions in grant language pertaining to co-authorship and collaboration.”

Rubio and Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) plan to introduce the FORTIFY U.S. Research Act “to safeguard taxpayer-funded research and close loopholes that have enabled our adversaries to exploit it,” he stated.

Rubio declared that such legislation is “what the American people require to begin restoring their faith in our institutions. The longer we wait to act, the more that faith will fade—and the more its fading will be justified.”

Rubio’s efforts to combat the pernicious influence of Communist China have included the following: In March 2023, he and Iowa GOP Senator Joni Ernst introduced the No Funds for Enablers of Adversarial Propaganda Act to deny federal funds to any individual or entity that had an agreement, partnership, or advertisement with TikTok. In August 2023, he called for banning TikTok in an opinion piece.

Last month, Rubio introduced a bill in the U.S. Senate to expose the corruption of the Chinese Communist government and its leadership.

The bill, titled the “Confronting CCP Malign Influence Act of 2024,” would require the Director of National Intelligence to “prepare and make available a report on the wealth and corrupt activities of the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, and for other purposes.”

“Our nation’s greatest adversary is Communist China and the American people must realize the complex reality a new world order, led by Beijing, would pose. Whether it be through economic, social, or military coercion, we are seeing an increased effort from China to displace our nation as the world’s leading power,” Rubio stated.

‘I’m bored, so I shoot’: The Israeli army’s approval of free-for-all violence in Gaza

Israeli soldiers describe the near-total absence of firing regulations in the Gaza war, with troops shooting as they please, setting homes ablaze, and leaving corpses on the streets — all with their commanders’ permission.

In early June, Al Jazeera aired a series of disturbing videos revealing what it described as “summary executions”: Israeli soldiers shooting dead several Palestinians walking near the coastal road in the Gaza Strip, on three separate occasions. In each case, the Palestinians appeared unarmed and did not pose any imminent threat to the soldiers.

Such footage is rare, due to the severe constraints faced by journalists in the besieged enclave and the constant danger to their lives. But these executions, which did not appear to have any security rationale, are consistent with the testimonies of six Israeli soldiers who spoke to +972 Magazine and Local Call following their release from active duty in Gaza in recent months. Corroborating the testimonies of Palestinian eyewitnesses and doctors throughout the war, the soldiers described being authorized to open fire on Palestinians virtually at will, including civilians.

The six sources — all except one of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity — recounted how Israeli soldiers routinely executed Palestinian civilians simply because they entered an area that the military defined as a “no-go zone.” The testimonies paint a picture of a landscape littered with civilian corpses, which are left to rot or be eaten by stray animals; the army only hides them from view ahead of the arrival of international aid convoys, so that “images of people in advanced stages of decay don’t come out.” Two of the soldiers also testified to a systematic policy of setting Palestinian homes on fire after occupying them.

Several sources described how the ability to shoot without restrictions gave soldiers a way to blow off steam or relieve the dullness of their daily routine. “People want to experience the event [fully],” S., a reservist who served in northern Gaza, recalled. “I personally fired a few bullets for no reason, into the sea or at the sidewalk or an abandoned building. They report it as ‘normal fire,’ which is a codename for ‘I’m bored, so I shoot.'”

Since the 1980s, the Israeli military has refused to disclose its open-fire regulations, despite various petitions to the High Court of Justice. According to political sociologist Yagil Levy, since the Second Intifada, “the army has not given soldiers written rules of engagement,” leaving much open to the interpretation of soldiers in the field and their commanders. US Provides $2 Billion Military Aid Package to Warsaw

Washington is providing its NATO ally Poland with a second $2 billion foreign military financing (FMF) package in less than a year, Breaking Defense reports. In recent weeks, Warsaw has given Kiev a green light to use Polish-provided weapons to strike the Russian mainland as well as signed a bilateral military pact with Ukraine, agreeing to shoot down some Russian missiles.

A State Department official boasted to the outlet of how the two FMF loans are benefiting the US arms industry as well as strengthening the Washington-led bloc embroiled in its Ukraine proxy war with Moscow. “It’s impressive that it hasn’t even been a year and they [Poland] are moving out pretty quickly… We’re happy with the process. We see it as a success. We’re happy that they’ve been able to move out quickly — not only does it help NATO, it helps the US defense industry as well, the US economy. So, we’re definitely happy with the process.”

As with typical FMF loans, the funds furnished by the State Department to a foreign government must be spent on American-made weaponry and equipment. What makes this loan unique, however, is instead of a grant to purchase arms, this loan includes interest which Warsaw must repay. The US is putting up $60 million to guarantee the loan and cover initial fees. The official said details regarding how the funds will be spent, on what kinds of weapons, will not be shared during this week’s NATO summit. Instead, he insisted the Poles “[have] a list of things they want to achieve” and said to expect future announcements.

The official noted the previous FMF loan, issued last September, has either been totally spent or is earmarked for purchases including four aerostat-based early warning systems which accounts for approximately half the first loan. The unusual loan-based structure allows “the interagency to get FMF funding to foreign allies without needing to wait on the appropriations process,” the outlet notes, adding Congress extended the authority to issue these loans through the end of the 2025 fiscal year.

Asked if other countries will receive such loans, the official answered “We are looking at it, and there are other countries that remain competitive… The reason you’re seeing Poland is, of course, the situation with the ongoing war in Ukraine. They’re ready to move out.” The official emphasized that talks with multiple countries are ongoing, while repeatedly praising Warsaw’s high military spending and deeming Poland “the tip of the spear on this for us right now.”

The State Department stated “Poland is a leader in NATO, currently spending four percent of GDP on defense, the highest in the Alliance. Poland hosts thousands of U.S. and Allied forces, including U.S. V Corps Headquarters (Forward) in Poznan.” The US has roughly 10,000 troops stationed in Poland. Since Russian forces invaded Ukraine, Warsaw has announced plans to buy a myriad of American arms including Abrams tanks, Black Hawk and Apache helicopters, HIMARS rocket launchers. Poland is seeking more Patriot air defense batteries as well.

Meta to remove posts targeting 'Zionists' when aiming at Jews, Israelis

Calls to violence and hatred, often featuring coded language like using the term ‘Zionists’, have been amplified by algorithms.

Meta will remove content targeting Zionists when used to refer to Jews and Israelis and not the political movement, the social media conglomerate’s Policy Forum announced on Tuesday.

The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, will remove posts and comments about Zionists that use antisemitic stereotypes, threatens harm through intimidation, or violence against Jews or Israelis under the guise of attacking Zionists.

Examples of content violating community standards may include claims about Zionists controlling the world or media, dehumanizing comparisons to animals, and denial of existence.

US State Department report finds persistent antisemitism in Qatari textbooks

Annual religious freedom survey says Qatari textbooks continue to include hateful content, contradicting Doha’s efforts to be seen as a moderate Western ally

Qatar’s Talha bin Obaidullah Preparatory School, located a few miles north of the capital Doha, held an art exhibition in November under the title “Gaza in our Hearts.”

Next to odes to Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine and posters calling for the boycott of various brands for their alleged ties to Israel, a section of the wall displayed students’ works as part of a presentation titled “The Attributes of the Jews.” Sentences plastered on the wall characterized Jews as “corrupt, murderers of prophets, deceitful and arrogant.”

Pictures from the exhibit were posted on the school’s Facebook account, where they can still be viewed.

The anecdote features in the 2023 US State Department’s Report on International Religious Freedom, published two weeks ago, as evidence of the antisemitism that still permeates the Qatari education system, and which has resurfaced on multiple occasions in public events since October 7.

“Notwithstanding some improvements in Qatar’s national curriculum and certain textbooks during the 2021-2022 school year, during 2023, the national curriculum continued to include content that was antisemitic in nature,” the report read.

But what proves that Europe is antisemitic? Why, they have been murdering Jews for 2,000 years, right?

By the same token, might we say, God forbid, that the Creator is none too fond of Jews as well? After all, isn't He the one who allowed Jews to be murdered for two millennia?

Tampon fears: Experts REFUSE to say which 14 brands contain toxic metals… as concern grows on social media that women's health is at risk

Women today called on tampon brands to urgently review the levels of toxic metals in their products in the wake of heightened safety fears.

Tests on 30 products purchased in New York, Athens and London have found some contained dangerous levels of arsenic, chromium and even lead.

MILITARY OVERVIEW: ISRAEL WAGES TERROR THROUGHOUT THE REGION

Fighting continues on the southern front in the Gaza Strip and on the northern front on the borders with Lebanon. The Israeli army has reported that 11 soldiers have been wounded in different areas over the past 24 hours. Eight soldiers were wounded in the Gaza Strip and three soldiers were wounded on the northern border.

The military situation in Gaza and Rafah has not changed much. Israeli forces have not been able to completely clear Rafah after weeks of fighting. Around 60% of the town is currently under Israeli control.

Fighting continues in the central areas of Rafah, in Tal al-Sultan, around the Saudi project and in the southern areas of the city.

The situation in other parts of the Gaza Strip remains unchanged. Israeli forces are stationed in the central axis of the Gaza Strip, known as the Netzarim axis. In addition, Israeli engineering units are demolishing buildings and clearing areas in the northern and southern parts of the Netzarim axis.

Israeli forces recently destroyed six tunnels belonging to Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Shujaiyeh area. One of the tunnels destroyed was Islamic Jihad’s main tunnel in Gaza City, which was 2.5 kilometres long and used for command and control operations. In total, at least six kilometres of tunnels were destroyed in Shujaiyeh.

The tunnels and underground facilities used by Palestinian resistance groups pose a significant challenge to the Israeli regime. Despite the Israeli army’s efforts to secure Gaza City and other areas of the Gaza Strip, the extensive network of underground facilities makes this task seem impossible.

Palestinian fighters use these tunnels on a daily basis to launch surprise attacks against Israeli forces and equipment.

Secretive State Department-funding 'global disinfo index' is accused of censoring conservative views

The State Department's Global Engagement Center combats disinformation

Republicans are demanding more information on the program's effectiveness

Republicans are threatening to shut down a taxpayer-funded program they claim is censoring conservative Americans' freedom of speech.

The State Department's Global Engagement Center (GEC) directs and coordinates efforts to 'counter foreign propaganda and disinformation.'

But it has been exposed for giving out taxpayer-funded grant money to organizations currently being sued for First Amendment-related violations, posing freedom of speech and censorship risks according to GOP members of Congress.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul, R-Texas, is now asking why the taxpayer-funded program should continue.

In a letter McCaul wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken this month first obtained by DailyMail.com, the chairman is demanding the GEC be shut down at the end of the year.

He also wants to know why the department has 'withheld information' on the center's effectiveness.

'To begin with, the GEC is facing growing scrutiny here in Washington and across the country,' McCaul wrote to Blinken in the letter. 'Many of these inquiries concern the GEC's relationships with organizations – primarily U.S. technology companies and NGOs – that conduct censorship worldwide.'

Some of the GEC's partner organizations that McCaul says are engaged in censorship practices are the Election Integrity Partnership (EIP) and the Global Disinformation Index (GDI).

He says that the EIP conducted censorship by communicating 'with social media companies to identify American-origin posts as mis- or disinformation and effect their takedown, many during the 2020 election cycle.'

McCaul has also questioned the GEC's partnership with GDI, which maintains a 'blacklist' of U.S. news outlets. He claimed that list is evidence of bias against conservative publications and thus the GDI is not deserving of grant funding.

The GEC is also a central feature in two ongoing federal lawsuits, the chairman notes in his letter. Both have alleged the federal government infringed Americans First Amendment rights.
