Secure voting using video submissions

Voting in elections must be safe, secure, verifiable, in-person and anonymous.

For each voter a video will be archived showing them at their polling place, and holding a uniquely numbered completed ballot while reciting the phrase "I am voter number [number] and this is my completed ballot."

Each video is securely archived as evidence and the voter dips their thumb into a purple dye to prevent them from voting more than once.

The number of archived videos and the number of ballots shall be the same. If not, the discrepancies must be investigated and corrected.

In the 3 days following an election, if a losing candidate believes there was likely fraud, they request a random sample of 1,000 voter videos. The voters chosen must attend a verification meeting where they're permitted to privately and securely view their archived video and confirm the authenticity of the video and ballot shown therein.

If no discrepancies are found, the losing candidate loses, or pays for a subsequent larger sample of 5,000 random voter videos. If when these voters review their videos and no discrepancies are found, the candidate loses.

If a voter cannot verify their video and ballot choices, the discrepancies will immediately be shared with the county sheriff, the candidates involved, and the media. An investigation ensure and charges are filed.

If convicted of voter fraud (changing a ballot, lying about archived voting videos, or deleting videos or inserting one) the guilty person shall be sentenced to life in prison.

NOTES:

  1. Each video is time-stamped, contains precise geolocation data, and is tied to a single device or chipset. This makes it very difficult to alter or tamper with.

  1. The random voters polled for discrepancies have their ballot choices kept secret unless the voter opts to go public for the sake of transparency. Otherwise, it's like a sexual assault case where the plaintiff retains anonymity for safety reasons.

  1. For all voters who cannot vote in person (e.g. active military, disabled persons, hospitalized persons, elderly, etc.) they can request to have a registered courier collect their numbered ballot, bring it to them, and after the voter completes the ballot, the courier records the video and uploads it to the server on site. Once the courier receives a Confirmation of the server receiving the ballot, the courier dips the voters finger in purple dye.
