Retired NYPD detective running against Gillibrand for Senate
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - A Long Island Republican wants to unseat New York Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand in the U.S. Senate.
Mike Sapraicone, a retired New York Police Department detective from Nassau County, paid a visit to Watertown on Tuesday.
A father and grandfather, Sapraicone says his background as a small business owner and police detective shows he can be trusted as a representative for the state.
His priorities are crime, illegal immigration at the northern border, and informing constituents about happenings in D.C.
“People want to, know you, be able to shake your hand and say, ‘I met that guy,’ or, ‘He was here. He stopped by.’ I don’t think we have that now. I think it’s time we start getting back to that, getting back to basics and getting back to common sense,” he said.
Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand has served as Senator for the last 15 years. Election Day is November 5.
