What's 'Blue MAGA?' The Origin Of #BlueMAGA And The Unwavering Joe Biden Fandom Explained

A new subset of Democrat voters has been dubbed Blue MAGA, spawning the hashtag #BlueMAGA, which is spreading in memes and viral discourse.

Acting U.S. President Joe Biden is at the heart of Blue MAGA's fandom. The slang term predominantly surfaced after the 2024 CNN Presidential Debate where Biden and Donald Trump met face to face for the first time in preparation of the 2024 election.

Since then, "Blue MAGA" has been used en masse, but what does it mean? Who coined it and why is it relevant? Let's explain.

What Does 'Blue MAGA' Mean?

"Blue MAGA" is the liberal, Democrat version of MAGA (aka "Make America Great Again") the famous and infamous Trump slogan which fostered an electorate so obsessed with their candidate that they wear diapers with his face on them (seriously).

In this context, "MAGA" is a slightly derogatory term in that it compares Biden's strongest supporters to people who are crazy for Trump. The blindness of both supporter bases is touched on in that they both ignore their candidate's flaws to an intense degree and dismiss any controversy around them.

What's The Origin Of 'Blue MAGA?'

A Twitter / X user named @WeHearPodcast is the first known person to use the hashtag "#BlueMAGA." However, that was back in 2017, and it seems to have been about a "Blue Wave" he wanted following the failed 2016 election.

A better origin is a tweet shared by X user @scottsantens in 2019, who was concerned about the then-upcoming 2020 election. He summed up the idea of Blue MAGA quite well.

Why Is 'Blue MAGA' Controversial?

The "Blue MAGA" electorate has become akin to Democrat voters and leaders who are seemingly ignoring warning signs about President Biden's health and age. People from both sides of the political aisle are calling them out, wondering what they're seeing. That's why the usage of "MAGA" is so potent because it compares the liberals to the counterculture that they despise.
