Zelenskyy meets with US governors in Utah

The U.S. National Governors Association (NGA) has welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to its Summer Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, Zelenskyy’s press service announced on July 12.

Usually dealing with senior federal U.S. officials, Zelenskyy took the opportunity to express gratitude to individual U.S. states for the assistance they have provided to Ukrainian refugees since early 2022, as well as humanitarian aid dispatched to Ukraine.

“We already see Utah’s contribution to rebuilding our country—you have helped thousands of people,” said Zelenskyy.

“This assistance aids millions and contributes to the greater good, rewarding everyone regardless of where they live. Because we all share the same values and do not want war destroying lives anywhere.”

The president reiterated Ukraine’s need for school bomb shelters, air defenses, and generators. He called on U.S. governors to foster regional cooperation with Ukrainian oblasts.
