“I was on vice president Cheney's detail on 9/11. You know, much like all Americans, it has left an indelible mark on me and I still think back to, you know, moments during that day and it's really surreal to think about.

 

But I was at the White House working with the vice president. I was supposed to work, just a regular 6 to 2 day shift. It became, you know, a very long day and we stayed on duty and and did what we needed to do, but was one of the members of the shift that helped evacuate the vice president from his office at the White House and then continued to stay with him for the duration of the day.”

 

“Are there any moments from that day, observations, moments that you witnessed that you can share?”

 

“There's I mean, there's a lot of moments that I go back to, during that day. And, you know, one of the things that always strikes me is just how our shift and it's what we do as an agency and it's how we train our folks. The reaction that everybody had was instantaneous and we coalesced together without even thinking and it was really seamless. And you know, we talk about it in training that it's like it's a choreographed moment and you don't ever think that you're going to have those moments where you're going to see that take effect. And that was one of those moments where, you know, we we were able to live that out and it and it's training is everything and and that's what you fall back on and that's what we went to that day. That's how we're here.”
