FLITE09 EA-37B Compass Call G550 NW from Texas State Technical College Waco Airport, TX and heading to Anchorage

Seen these hang around it’s operating base of Davis-Monthan AFB and never goes very far and not out of US Airspace….except today.

These are not officially operational until 2026.

The EA-37B (previously EC-37B) Compass Call electronic warfare (EW) aircraft is being developed to provide improved electronic attack capabilities for the US Air Force (USAF) based on the Gulfstream G550 commercial business jet.

The new platform is based on the Gulfstream G550 Conformal Airborne Early Warning Aircraft (CAEW) airframe, which is a derivative of the G550 business jet. It is equipped with the existing Compass Call EW system installed on the ageing Lockheed Martin-built EC-130H Compass Call electronic attack aircraft.

The aircraft will provide enhanced stand-off jamming capability for the USAF compared to the existing EC-130H Compass Call, which has been operational with the USAF since 1982. The USAF plans to acquire ten EA-37B Compass Call aircraft to replace the 14-aircraft EC-130H fleet. The first EA-37B aircraft was delivered to the USAF in September 2023 for developmental and operational testing. In November 2023, the USAF’s Air Combat Command redesignated the EC-37B to EA-37B with effect from October 2023.

The EA-37B Compass Call aircraft will be delivered to the 55th Electronic Combat Group (ECG) located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

The 55th ECG will be the Compass Call aircraft’s sole operator for contingency operations globally.

The initial operating capability of the aircraft is expected to be achieved in 2026.

China new home prices fall at fastest pace in 9 years, more support needed

China's new home prices in June fell at the fastest clip in nine years while property sales and investment slumped, increasing pressure on policymakers for more stimulus to prop up the battered sector as it struggles to find a bottom.

New home prices slid 4.5% from a year earlier, hitting the lowest since June 2015, deeper than a 3.9% slide in May, according to Reuters calculations based on National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data. Prices were down 0.7% month-on-month in June after a 0.7% dip in May.

Since 2021, the property market's steep downturn has led to a series of developers defaulting, leaving numerous construction sites idle. This has eroded confidence in the sector, traditionally favoured by Chinese households as a safe haven for their savings. The property sector which at its peak accounted for a quarter of GDP, remains a major drag on the $18 trillion economy. Authorities have rolled out a flurry of support measures, including cutting home buying costs in major cities and allowing local governments to buy some unsold apartments and turn them into affordable housing. Property investment fell 10.1% in the first half of 2024 from a year earlier, and home sales by floor area fell 19.0%, compared with a 20.3% slump in the first five months of the year, separate NBS figures showed.

Markets will closely scrutinise directives from the Communist Party leadership meeting starting on Monday where key economic issues will be discussed. Policy advisers believe China could unveil tax and fiscal changes that would funnel more tax revenues to debt-laden local governments to help ease pressure on their finances.
