Can't believe the SS head's excuse as to why they didn't put people on the roof the shooter was on. It had too much of a slope and was as safety concern.. The roofs behind Trump with the counter-snipers had twice the slope. She didn't want to put anyone's life at risk.. all agents there legitimately are ready to be human shields for the cause of protecting the president. He almost died because she treated them like civilians instead of agents ready to die defending the president..
I thought the same but there's a video on youtube showing people in those bleachers reacting to the one guy who died from a head shot. That was on Trump's right so one of the shooter's rounds went a little left. There were injuries in the box to his left as well as the hydraulics on the machine holding up the speakers.

Shooter moved across the roof from the back side with the ladder to the side where the crowd below saw him.. If he could have seen Trump from the back where the ladder was he would have stayed there. He moved to the other side of the roof to get around the bleacher that (as you said) was blocking the shot.
