Grassley launches probe into Secret Service policies after Trump assassination attempt
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa on Wednesday announced an investigation into the policies and procedures of the Secret Service following the assassination of former President Donald Trump.
“At this time, the lack of information from your agencies is unacceptable,” Grassley wrote in a Tuesday letter to USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
He specifically asked in the letter if the Secret Service procedures were followed on the day the 45th president was nearly shot during a rally in rural Pennsylvania.

"DHS special review panels and their Office of Inspector General (DHS OIG) have identified a number of longstanding, serious issues concerning the USSS which threaten the agency’s ability to carry out its core function and mission: protective detail," Grassley's letter reads.
Multiple members of Congress have requested more information and documents from the Secret Service and other agencies regarding protocol and failures the day Trump was almost assassinated.
