223/556 can reach from the roof to the podium effectively (both ball and steel core)
Whichever anon that stated 500m (1500ft???) has no idea about how many wind directions (plus heat from the road the projectile would travel over and other obstructions) they would have to account for.
anon is quite familiar w calibers. That roof position from podium could be done w/223/556. A 308, even clipping the ear, would've done more damage (perhaps), but would've been photographed better than what that CNN douche accomplished.

Anon, 300 yard is the average Army range, 600 for Marines. The 600 is KD range. No one is accurately impacting the KD range with 556. Target is bigger for impact.

A 223 can tumble 400m (anon cannot remember if it was 400 it begins or further). but w/223 shooter would have to be pointed way high for the tumble to occur before gravity pulls it to the ground
