I think the idea is, hold onto to any ballot sent to your house and take it with you to vote…if the poll worker checks their book and finds that you "already voted", then show them the ballot to prove you didn't. This would be a rare scenario as the 2024 election should be harder to steal. I took my 2020 mail-in ballot (in California) to vote in case that happened, and when I manually filled out my ballot I asked the poll worker to shred my mail-in ballot, which they did…supposedly. They didn't do it in front of me like I asked, but I don't know what rights voters have to do that.

Are polling stations nationwide allowed to shred ballots on site? Seem sketchy if they did…?
