Houthis must intensify fight for Palestinian liberation – Nelson Mandela’s grandson

The activist has called for increased efforts to ban Israel from the Paris Olympics

In an exclusive interview with RT, Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela, has called for a global movement to intensify efforts for Palestine’s liberation and for Israel to be banned from this year’s Olympic Games.

Speaking in Paris, Mandela urged the international community, solidarity movements, and grassroots organizations to rally against what he called “Apartheid Israel.”

“We [pro-Palestinian demonstrators] are here in Paris today to make a call to the entire global community, the international solidarity movement, and all grassroots movements to call for a ban of Apartheid Israel from the Paris Olympic Games,” he said.

Mandela said there were growing protests with hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets in support of Palestine.

“We are readying ourselves for the biggest protests in front of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which will be on July 26,” he stated. The activist called on all civil society groups, labor formations, faith-based organizations, and grassroots movements to converge on the opening ceremony to support Palestinian marchers.

Mandela noted that more than 400 Palestinian athletes who would have participated in the Olympics had been killed, along with their training staff and coaches. He also pointed to the destruction of sports facilities in Palestine.

“We therefore call on the IOC to ban the Zionist usurping entity from participating, particularly in light of the fact that over 30 of their athletes serve in the IDF and have been participating in the genocide, ethnic cleansing, war crimes, and crimes against humanity,” he stated.

The grandson of Nelson Mandela also expressed support for the Houthis. “We would say in the international solidarity movements and grassroots movement that the Houthis must remain steadfast and intensify the fight in liberating our brothers and sisters in Gaza and all over occupied Palestine,” he said.

In a previous interview with RT, he compared support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to that of former UK PM Margaret Thatcher and former US President Ronald Reagan for the Apartheid regime in South Africa.

In 1997, during a visit to Gaza, Nelson Mandela expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, stating that Africans’ freedom was “incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”

Israel declared war on Hamas following a surprise attack on October 7, in which militants killed approximately 1,200 people and took over 200 hostages. Since then, more than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in the ensuing military operation, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

When It Comes To Political Violence Western Leaders Are The Biggest Hypocrites

Despite virtue signaling by Biden, Macron, Trudeau, and many others condemning political violence following the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump, these same leaders are remarkably silent regarding the countless massacres they sanction around the world.

US President, Joe Biden, joined leaders across the Western World in condemning the shocking assassination attempt against former American President Donald Trump this Saturday. “We cannot condone this”, said Biden at an address to the nation, condemning political violence as unacceptable. Yet none of these leaders condemned an assassination attempt the day prior that murdered over 90 civilians, and almost all of those now taking the moral high-ground are in some way connected to similar political violence.

“It’s sick”, remarked President Joe Biden on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, who went on to state that there is “no place in America for this kind of violence.” European leaders even chimed in to condemn “political violence”, with French President Emmanuel Macron saying that the shooting is “tragedy for our democracies,” while European Commission President, Ursula Von Der Leyen, wrote on X [formerly Twitter] that “political violence has no place in a democracy”.

The immediate reaction from many supporters of the Trump campaign online was to point out the hypocrisy of many of those, especially politicians belonging to the Democratic Party, who were shortly before labelling Donald Trump the biggest threat to US democracy. However, despite the clear change in tone towards the Republican Party nominee, the true depths of hypocrisy here do not begin with anti-Trump rhetoric, but with real world assassinations that have spilt the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

Some Political Assassinations Aren’t Equal To Others

Little known to much of the American public and underreported across the Western corporate media, was another assassination attempt that was carried out with US weapons and diplomatic cover less than 24-hours prior to the shooting at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Receiving no condemnation from Biden, Von Der Leyen or Marcon, Israel launched a series of missile strikes against Palestinian refugees sheltering in tents, located in what Israel calls a designated “safe zone”, murdering at least 90 civilians and injuring 300 others. That same day, Israel murdered a total of 141 Palestinians, half of whom were women and children. What was the official Israeli response to the massacre? It said that it was aware there would be civilian casualties, but justified the attack by claiming it had tried to assassinate Hamas leader, Mohammed al-Deif. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, could not confirm whether the assassination was successful, as Hamas released a statement asserting that the attempt was unsuccessful and that al-Deif is alive.

The Israeli military’s Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, also conceded that it was “still too early to summarize the results of the attack,” which followed an Israeli army announcement about the attack which did not even mention the name Mohammed al-Deif and instead named another Hamas official. Mohammed al-Deif has survived 7 assassination attempts by Israel, the second latest killed his immediate family, including his wife, 7-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter in 2014.

Delta Cancels Another 600 Flights on Monday in Wake of Cyber Outage

Delta Air Lines canceled more than 600 flights on Monday, as the U.S. air carrier continued to struggle to restore operations after last week's global cyber outage, even as other airlines were recovering from the incident.

About 16% of Delta's flights had been canceled as of 7:00 a.m. ET, according to data from FlightAware, out of roughly 1,100 flights to or from the United States overall, the website said.

The issue has stranded thousands of Delta travelers across the United States, with some having to rent cars to drive hundreds of miles while others could have to wait days for new flights or cancel trips altogether.

The Atlanta-based airline is battling operational issues after the outage hit its crew tracking system. Delta's total number of canceled flights since Friday has exceeded 5,000.

A Delta spokesperson did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

A software update by global cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike triggered system problems for Microsoft customers, including many airlines, on Friday.

Although other U.S. airlines have largely recovered, Delta has struggled to return to normal. American Airlines had called off 1% of its flights on Monday, while United Airlines canceled less than 1%.

Delta shares were little changed in premarket trading on Monday.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian said over the weekend that the CrowdStrike issue affected its Microsoft Windows systems, snarling a critical application.

"One of our crew tracking-related tools was affected and unable to effectively process the unprecedented number of changes triggered by the system shutdown," Bastian told customers in an email.

In a separate note, he told employees that Delta would continue to "tactically adjust" schedules to ensure safety.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg spoke with Bastian over the weekend, according to an official, reminding him of the carrier's responsibilities to customers and the department's enforcement role.

CrowdStrike said a significant number of the 8.5 million affected Microsoft devices were back online.

Speaker Johnson: Supporting Israel Is One of America’s ‘Founding Principles’

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) described US support for Israel as one of America’s “founding principles” during a speech at an event hosted by the Republican Jewish Committee on July 18.

“It is an important principle that America and Israel stand together resolutely. That is part of who we are as a country. It’s one of our founding principles. I believe that we maintain peace through strength, and I think that the relationship with Israel is essential to who we are as Americans,” Johnson said.

Since the modern state of Israel was created in 1948, it’s unclear what Johnson meant when he said the US-Israel relationship is a “founding principle.” The most well-known Founding Fathers would also disagree with Johnson since they strongly warned against permanent alliances and “attachments” to other nations.

In his farewell address in 1796, George Washington said, “A passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter, without adequate inducement or justification.”

Johnson also threatened Democratic lawmakers with possible arrest if they protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress, which is scheduled for this Thursday.

“There’s a number of Democrats in the House who have said they are going to boycott the event, and then some others are gonna protest,” he said. “We’re gonna have extra sergeants at arms on the floor, and if anybody gets out of hand the Speaker of the House will bang the gavel. We’re gonna arrest people if we have to do it. We’re gonna get the message out.”

Israeli settlers beat foreign volunteers in occupied West Bank

Israeli settlers on Sunday attacked a group of foreign volunteers helping Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank, injuring some who needed hospital treatment, the activists and Israeli army said.

Eight mainly American volunteers were working with the farmers in an olive grove near the Palestinian village of Qusra when settlers came after them, said David Hummel, an American-German in the group.

"We were standing there peacefully, not a threat to anyone, when they started coming towards us and pushing us down the path," Hummel told AFP.

"They started attacking and beating us all with sticks and metal pipes and they were throwing rocks as well at us," he said.

US Criticizes ICJ Ruling That Israeli Occupation of Palestine Is Illegal

The US claims the ruling will impede a two-state solution

The US has criticized the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) ruling that said the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and must come to an end, claiming it impedes a two-state solution.

“We are concerned that the breadth of the court’s opinion will complicate efforts to resolve the conflict and bring about an urgently needed just and lasting peace, with two states living side-by-side in peace and security,” a State Department spokesperson told Reuters in an email on Saturday.

The spokesperson said the ICJ ruling, which was a non-binding opinion, was “inconsistent with the established framework.”

In contrast, the US refused to condemn the Israeli Knesset passing a resolution that rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River, which covers all of the occupied territories.

“I’ll let Israeli officials speak to their own legislative chamber and the actions that that chamber takes,” State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said about the Knesset vote. He claimed the US was still committed to a two-state solution, but the US continues to back an Israeli government that’s explicitly opposed to the idea.

The ICJ ruling said the establishment and expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem amounted to annexation. Since October 7, Israeli settlers have stepped up their attacks on Palestinians to steal their homes, and the Israeli government has approved the largest land grab in the West Bank in 30 years.

In Gaza, the Israeli military controls about 26% of the territory and has demolished buildings and destroyed agricultural land in those areas, potentially paving the way for new Jewish settlements.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is also the minister in charge of settlement expansion in the West Bank, has called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to formally annex the territory in response to the ICJ ruling.

The letter claimed the dangers posed by the deal trumped the Jewish imperative to free captives. It is believed that 116 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza, including the bodies of 44 confirmed dead by the IDF.

HHS whistleblower says she was retaliated against for reporting gangs who sponsor migrant children

"Less than 40% of the children are going to their parents," whistleblower Tara Rodas said. Last year it was reported that the Biden administration lost track of about 85,000 children who entered the U.S. without an adult.

Health and Human Services whistleblower Tara Rodas says she faced retaliation from the department after she reported concerns that unaccompanied immigrant children were being placed in the hands of sponsors who were affiliated with the notorious Salvadorian MS-13 gang.

"Interestingly, when I discovered that there was MS-13 actually sponsoring the children…. this began when a DHS whistleblower came forward and then alerted us that MS-13 and 18th Street gangs were getting the children, it only took them less than three weeks if you can imagine, to walk me off the site under threat of investigation," Rodas said on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "That's what happened to me."

She said that it was unbelievable that she was the one who suffered retaliation when the HHS's Office of Refugee Resettlement Unaccompanied Children program should have been changed to protect the minors at the border.

"They knew they had a problem," she said. "They could have easily changed the system to make it safe for children. And instead, they decided to silence me when I brought these concerns. These are grave concerns."

On Tuesday, Rodas and fellow whistleblower Deborah White participated in a roundtable discussion about the exploitation of missing migrant children. It was hosted by Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Ron Johnson, R-Wis.

Rodas said during her testimony that unaccompanied migrant children are funneled through a network of U.S. government agencies, contractors and nongovernmental organizations. She said that people working for these agencies and organizations have little or no training on how to protect children from trafficking or abuse.

She said that the Office of Refugee Resettlement Unaccompanied Children program is falsely advertised as a family reunification program.

"Less than 40% of the children are going to their parents," Rodas said.

She said that in 2021 it was revealed that MS-13 gang members were sponsoring some of these unaccompanied migrant children that have come to the U.S. southern border.

The Department of Justice identifies the gang MS-13 as "well-organized" and "heavily involved in lucrative illegal enterprises" and "being notorious for its use of violence to achieve its objectives."

Johnson during the roundtable discussion asked Rodas if U.S. government agencies are willingly allowing children to be placed in the hands of MS-13 due to the overwhelming state of the open border policies under the Biden administration. "Yes, senator," Rodas responded. "I wish I could tell you differently."

Whistleblower White said on the John Solomon Reports podcast that the federal effort to find children safe shelter once in America was rushed like an assembly line, raising the risk that children got placed in unsafe shelters or with sponsors who weren’t properly vetted.

RUSSIAN FSB DISCOVERED SUPPLY CHAIN OF EXPLOSIVES FROM EUROPE

On July 22, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) reported that it discovered a supply chain of explosives from the European countries to Russia. The dangerous cargo was aimed to conduct terrorist attacks on the Russian territory.

According to the official report, explosives and detonators were sent to Russia in several parcels from Italy and Germany. They were hidden in cavities of automobile spare parts.

The explosives were stored for 2 months in the St. Petersburg transport company. The head of the company tried to contact the recipient but he did not get in touch. In the footage shared by the FSB, the woman said that they checked the parcels and found explosives after they found out that the recipient was wanted.

A criminal case was launched under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code (smuggling of explosives).

The FSB officially reported that the security agencies have requested the relevant European special services within the framework of cooperation in the field of combating international terrorism in order to identify the organizers and accomplices of the thwarted acts of sabotage and terrorism. To date, these requests have remained unanswered.

A similar scheme of dangerous supplies was revealed last year in the Republic of Crimea. The attackers were preparing a terrorist attack in Crimea using explosives supplied from Europe. The operation was supervised by Roman Mashovets, deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Zelensky. The target of the attack were the head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov, chairman of the local parliament Vladimir Konstantinov and Yalta Mayor Yanina Pavlenko. In April 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put Mashovets on the wanted list. The terrorists in Crimea were detained.

Earlier, the Head of the Republic of Crimea said that he had been attacked four times over the past year, and all the suspects were detained. According to the official, ten people are awaiting sentences.
