I'm old enough that I took Civics in High School.

It was required for graduation.

The school I went to had a lot of children of immigrants.

I distinctly recall the teacher telling us that if we were born to parents who were not US citizens at the time of our birth, (or at least one of them was a citizen at the time of our birth), that we would not qualify to become POTUS because we were not a Natural Born Citizen.

I recall laughter ensued because the idea that any one of us would have a chance in hell of ever becoming POTUS seemed humorous.

When did the rules change that Natural Born Citizen now seems to mean any person whose mom gave birth to them on American soil regardless of her being a US citizen or not?
